    Correct decision by the ref, especially as the kicking tee is used.

    I've had this discussion at games where a player could point "towards" the post but say to the ref they aren't having a kick for goal. This is very different as they aren't kicking from a tee.

    @Stargazer said in NH club rugby:

    What do you think the ref decided/should have decided?

    This is what the ref decided:

    :::

    The ref disallowed the "try". The reports in the media differ on the reason why the ref disallowed the try, but this is what Law 8.20 says:

    If the team indicates to the referee the intention to kick at goal, they must kick at goal.
    The intention to kick can be communicated to the referee or signalled by the the arrival of the kicking tee or sand, or when the player makes a mark on the ground.

    :::

    Good.

    And the kicker should havd had a YC.

    Nipped there and then.

    According to a media release from Toulon, Nehe Milner-Skudder has - with agreement from the club - decided to spend the rest of the 2019-20 season on his rehab. He'll join Toulon in the (European) Summer of 2020 and play for them during the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons.

    That injury to his left shoulder still stopping him from playing!

    So, which Kiwi team needs a coach? And who wants him?

    Jason O'Halloran is returning to NZ at the end of the 2019-2020 Pro 14 season.

    @Duluth Jason Holland might put his hand up for that role, too.

    @Stargazer I wouldn't be annoyed at this. O'Halloran is a Canes man and seems very switched on, he's done his yards as an assistant and probably deserves a crack. I feel it will be between him and Chris Gibbes for the role.

    Probably.. I suspect O'Halloran will get it because of how highly rated he is by NZR. They've liked him for a long time and will want him involved at a high level

    @Duluth I've always been a fan of his, used to love listening to his segment on RS several years back, analysis was always insightful.

    @taniwharugby yeah hopefully they stay clear of Holland. O'Halloran with Spencer as an assistant backs coach would be awesome. Maybe keep Chris Gibbes in there to look after the forwards aswell.

    @KiwiMurph just prefer O'Hallaron. Canes will probably botch it though and sign the wrong person.

    Interestingly the bottom four teams of Eng Prem have 27 of 32 titles between them. How the mighty have fallen. Wasps playing their best team so far, Soapy can't even make the bench. Umaga to start at 10 - he can come back to NZ for the Canes, thanks.

    EDIT oh Sopoanga might be ill.

    Gloucester vs Worcester.

    The ref is bent. The match is a good argument for the TMO, correcting the ref from making an appalling decision on a try.

    Also, how is Ackerman not red carded? South Africans love raising an elbow into the tackle. I played in a game very early this year where a player got the snot flogged out of him for doing the same thing.

    Haven't watched Premiership Rugby for a while. Now watching Leicester Tigers v Exeter Chiefs, and I'm surprised how often the ref just allows players diving into a ruck (clearly going off their feet). Breakdowns are really messy. Players living offside all the time, too.
