@Nepia thanks for bringing this to my attention, its glorious. If I have a quibble its that he didn't give the kids enough credit , the boy in particular was great.
Nah, that's not the really idiotic one, it's the one from the podcast/Youtube that's particularly shitty as he tries to justify why he dislikes it with bullshit rather than just saying he didn't find it funny etc.

The bit about Moonrise kingdom is interesting, that was a weird movie like all Andersons stuff but I'd say he'd borrowed the way the characters speak to each other more than the setting if he borrowed anything from that movie or Andersons other films.

I don't remember the detail of his review and I'm not going to read it again so not 100% sure on the Moonrise Kingdom reference.
I used to dislike Collins whenever he filled it for Kermode so I was unsurprised he didn't like Jojo Rabbit.

@Nepia I haven't seen any of the films yet but was most surprised that For Sama didn't win the Best Documentary. That seemed to be the heavy favourite.
Have you not seen any of just the docos or best pic noms?
No. I only tend to go to the flicks to see movies that are best to see on the big screen, and lately that's been restricted to Marvel, DC, Star Wars, etc. I probably should have seen 1917 but I didn't watch Dunkirk until it was available for home release.

I'm happy with Jojo's adapted screenplay win just so it pissed off @jegga and Robbie Collins (idiot critic from the Kermode show who did a nasty review of the movie where he displayed his ignorance of Nazi Germany and was a prick to his co-host).
Ah, a fellow member of the Church.

Hello to Jason Isaacs.

Does a Maori and Korean winning an award not count toward this much talked about diversity?
Not woke enough for the liberal commentariat, but don't worry Joquain Phoenix's rant against dairy farmers got their juices flowing.

Step aside Taika, Nats wants to virtue signal .
Here she is with the child rapist who had a petition drawn up by Harvey Weinstein to ask for his release from prison that she signed.

Hunter Killer
Quite possibly Gerard Butler's worst movie. Obviously that's a bold statement. Imagine Hunt for Red October written by the fight choreographer for Rocky.
Yeah, that shit.

Yeah, that shit.
So that was written seven minutes in, I'm now 23 minutes in with 97 minutes remaining and it's unfathomably getting worse.
I'm imagining Mel Brooks wrote a Space Balls type pisstake of submarine movies. And the storyboard was in crayon with the actors the same size as the submarine.

Is either one of those African American? Then no.
It’s a shame that we even have to make that a thing. Why can it not just be about the acting or the directing or the writing. Why’s does it matter what colour the nominees were?
I don’t need an answer.
Watched “Heavyweights” on Disney with my son today. That movie could not be made today. Some classic body shaming in that movie. Classic dodgeball Ben Stiller too.
3.5 fat kids or of 5 Buddies!

Halfway through. It continues its exponential decline. It has a female Jack Ryan character interrupting a briefing with the President. I hope Gary Oldman needed the money.

I've still got a good 40mins to go tonight but thought I'd venture onto the internets and see what other people thought. Obviously Daniel Armua and I wouldn't get along. That or he's mastered sarcasm:
Hunt for Red October or Das Boot fans, hang on to your helmets! It has been a long time indeed since we the viewers were rewarded with a truly engaging, intense, suspenseful and emotionally satisfying naval thriller. Hunter Killer hits all those queues and then some. The major strength to this film is it's diversity and realism, perhaps not in the CGI category but where it counts, in the compelling performances and the understanding of special ops, covert procedures.

@antipodean Thank god, I've been waiting for the conclusion to this and thought you'd given up.
When you're done with Gerard Butler turkeys there's a list of Clive Owen films I'd like to know what happens in if you're wondering what to watch next.

Daniel Armua
isnt that @Nepia real name?
Could be Marita King:
What a masterpiece! Brand new story line and suspense full. Well of course with Gerard Butler we don't expect anything less! Inspirational, makes one think world peace is indeed possible. Completely underrated by movie critics, which I have learned to ignore as their opinions are only based on their movie preferences.

@antipodean @taniwharugby I think I'm more of a Marita than a Danny. #gerardbutler.worldpeace
