@canefan Yeah, so stupid. Totally giving the wrong message to people who are already struggling to abide by the lockdown rules.
Unhelpful when your own PM is unclear about what is permitted and what isn't:
The official Covid-19 website says private vehicles should be used for essential purposes, and does not mention using vehicles to travel short distances for exercise. But Ardern and senior government officials, including Police Commissioner Mike Bush, have said driving very locally to visit a park was acceptable. "There are some people who not near an area where they can safely walk or they can safely get fresh air, so we do accept that people will make short-distance journeys," Ardern said on Tuesday.
Do people like you (and I ) grasp what we can and can't do without it being spelled out? I think the answer is yes.
People are complaining about the wishy-washy-ness of the instruction yet complain of living in a police state if we are governed strictly to a rule.
I like that it lets me make a sensible decision on what I can and can't do.
Unless that decision is going for a swim or surf apparently.

I want to run up Wairere falls which is close to me but I know I am not allowed. I have mown a 200m verge along the roadside so I can hit some golf balls which I know is within limits.

@Hooroo I've been working from home since the 24th, kids here too, Mrs TR has been out shopping, outside of a walk up and down our road (a KM straight give or take) we are well and truly in our little bubble.
I'd fucking love to go to the beach or the lake for a swim, it's over 25 deg here at the moment (could probably do so and maintain our bubble too) but I know I shouldnt, so I dont.

so, do any of you know anyone who has done the hydroxochloroquine/azithromycin/zinc 5 day treatment-and is it prescribed actively by doctors in NZ?
I'd like to know more so that can push this option to my family, either as treatment, or preventative.
I worry that hospitals/doctors tasked to take WuFlu cases won't give this treatment during the important early few days and then it might be too late, and ARDS will kick in.
cheers -

Ardern and senior officials like Mike Bush have said that driving very locally to visit a park was acceptable for some people, like those who don't live near an area where they can safely walk or they can safely get fresh air.
This was used as an example to the rule of staying local and not driving elsewhere for your exercise/getting fresh air.

No, it's not. In fact it's evidence as to the arbitrary nature of the order. If you accept people can make judgement calls, you're going to have to accept some people make different judgements to you.

@Wairau I don't think it's prescribed anywhere, yet. They're still studying whether it's effective as a treatment for COVID19.
Hydroxochloroquine on its own is only prescribed as an antimalarial and for several rheumatic diseases like Sjogren's Syndrome, rhematoid arthritis etc.

- It works, and has been proven in many cases. But not on long trials of course. And the current WHO trial is testing in an incorrect way
- Other countries are actively using it
- Of course, we all know what hydroxochloroquine is typically used for, but this is a different need, please don't obfuscate....and I listed correctly the 3 drug combo, did you not read that? I never said hydroxychloroquine on its own. duh
btw Chinese govt. indicated it useful in the treatment of SARS in 2005....
This is important.
I also find it interesting that @canefan liked your post, which was pointless, but not mine, which is about solutions. -

I reckon. The conversation was rather civilised for a brief moment.
Why do I think we are about to get an obscure link to this saving drug and then a lot of noise around it.
