@mariner4life Chur! Think ballpark hundred is a decent idea for me although only got that close by mistake. So thanks for the idea!

You did good. I did 50.

I don't have kids or my own business. Or ridiculous heat. Plus I needed to sort my shit out.

    I'm just an employee.

You had ridiculous heat for London. Sunniest month in the history of the UK apparently.

@MajorRage yeah but a year ago I was in Sunshine Coast and it was pretty similar. In Winter.

But yeah nah, it's been wicked eh! Since lockdown and doing a workout (outside) everyday, we haven't had to shelve it once and only had to postpone it to the arvo one day. Nuts.

Yeah couples run yesterday to hit a good steep hill to try and get Bonesetta to handle the smaller ones better. Then a slightly longer run for me in the arvo but man it was tough for some reason. About 8km total.

Rest day today because fuck leg day.

Couple runs blah blah just over 8km blah blah pretty ordinary on the workouts but helping the bro reno a bathroom so some half decent manual labour I wouldn't usually do.

Second run yesterday was home from his and hit a couple of sweet hills and managed to keep it at 5:09/km for just shy of 4km, felt pretty good throughout too.

Since you're nearly 50, this is a good article to put here-I hope.
Lower body muscle disappears as we age.

    Yikes!

    Fucking nearly 50!

Anyway had a quick look at the study, I definitely don't have the patience to read that. Muscle disappears in old age isn't anything astounding is it? I couldn't see where they mentioned at what age they considered it started disappearing.

    Well I'm nearly 60!!

I'll read, but guessing it is referring to over 50s who drive everywhere. Cycling up hills seems to be holding things at bay -- so far!

@pakman yeah I reckon 8 and a half years is still a fair way off 50.

Reckon my knees will stop working well before then anyway....so who needs muscle.

Haha, just pulling your leg. I found the study encouraging, that upper body muscles don't deteriorate as quickly as leg muscles. Cycling hills is a great idea.
I am almost 50, I wish I were 40 again, much fitter, stronger, and better recovery. However, I am on my way to fitness again now.

    I'd settle for almost 50!

@pakman Did you stay fit from 50 to 60? Or did you lose fitness and have to recover? What level are you at now? Do you do more weights to retain muscle? Cheers

I in fact got stronger from 50 to about 55, but also got heavier. In last 5 years have made more of an effort on legs, aided by Hammer Strength Leg Press machine which I really like.

In last three years slimmed down from 91kgs to 87 (mainly flab, but some muscle), and about 10% weaker in upper body -- used to do chin ups with 26.5kg (117.5 total), but now at 22kg (109).

Since lockdown stepped up cycling, including a few hills, with an 'inefficient' bike, and that seems to be keeping deterioration at bay.

My best tip is keep things heavy and don't overdo volume.

I’m 43. I’d hate to lose my gainz. Does anyone know any good steroid dealers?
