Apparently two confirmed cases In Tok and 5 probable! (or maybe it's one confirmed and 5 probable)
I'm happy to be working in Tok today...….
By myself!
without booze!

without booze!
but a compulsion to talk to myself

That has to be a record posts chatting to yourself
Someone just walked in my office as I was sneezing and they just froze!!
I have hayfever from the pine Pollen that started this week and covers cars that park on site

Sure conspiracy theories around Covid can hinder the response. But the timing of the release of this in the media is interesting.
Also, maybe the resources from MBIE would be better spent on fixing the Governments blind spots rather trying to flame the divide between the nutters and the rest of society.
The positive side of this is that it may have outed @Winger as Billy Te Kahika.

NZ is in a dangerous situation right now.
- A very popular PM (with the best pained empathy expression in the world) who may not be as competent as her cheerleaders believe or even neutrals believe.
- A media that largely cheer-leads for her and avoids holding her to account.
- A population that was busy patting itself on the back and lapping up international media praise (the fact that came from largely liberal pro-lockdown angles seems to have been lost on them)
- And a virus that gives no fucks.
I am worried that, even at this stage, the necessary steps are not being taken or effectively enforced and we will hear more in the coming weeks.
-
@Kirwan Treatment(s) that render it less dangerous. Lot's of them being developed now. This has always been what I've been holding out for. Vaccine has always seemed a bit of a pipe dream. Nice to have but don't hold your breath or rely on it.

Does a vaccine mean you won't get the virus or are just less likely to?
How effective is the flu vaccine in preventing the flu vs those who are not vaccinated?
It vaccicates against the strains of flus you have taken the vaccine for. In the same way MMR does too

This is it. If its potential to kill or make you really sick can be reduced via a new or repurposed medication (shut up about hydroquinone, you know who you are) then life will return close to normal regardless of whether we have a vaccine or not. Think of taking panadol or brufen when you get the flu

@Kirwan I'm not ignoring anything; just don't have the time to respond immediately. I've got other things to do.
By the way, the Avatar film crew was in managed isolation for two weeks, not self-isolation, and they weren't out and about in Wellington at all. All these annecdotal stories in the media from attention seekers have all been debunked.
I had already referred to air crew, so didn't feel the need to respond to that.
So just to be clear, you asked for examples implying I was making stuff up, and I gave you three - two of which you concede are correct. One you think other people are lying, whatever.
Apology accepted.
Baron?

So, provided there is one strain of Covid, those who are vaccinated are 100% guaranteed not to get it ???in the same way when you get a vaccine for the strains of flu around. Are they 100%? No. But they do work

Should reduce severity of illness for related strains also not covered by the vaccine. Does anyone know how the world got over the Spanish flu? I assume it killed off a shit load of people and eventually those left behind that survived developed herd immunity? With help from modern medicine?
