@mariner4life they were getting a shit ton of 50/50 calls and no calls.

That, along with Harden's style of ball, is why I dislike them

Tight game with 4 minutes left. AD is ice cold from the field, LBJ is going have to do this on his own

Those last five minutes should ring major alarm bells for the Lakers. Green and Caruso bricking threes, while Carmelo and Trent land them at the other end for Portland.

Backs up the theory that the Lakers are shot if the ball isn't in the hands of Lebron or AD.

Lakers got ahead until Portland roared back with a barrage of 3s. Lakers looked like they would win out despite being out of sync but no. So both 1st seeds look average in the bubble and transfer that form into G1 losses. They will need much improved shooting in G2

Whiteside with more blocks than the entire Lakers team.

@barbarian Danny Green will probably explode from the arc next game. He can't shoot that poorly again.

Not too mention all the other bricks during the rest of the game.

    Dame with the logo 3s...

Lebron is the best all-round athlete the NBA has ever seen but he doesn't have the killer gene.

Too much facilitating when he needed to level up as only players like he, Kobe, and MJ can and could do. Still, only game one.

And AD. That game blows off the rust. If LA wins the next game they should take it inside 5. As bad as they played if they had kept up their mid Q4 tactics and stopped settling for 3s they could have won that

@raznomore yeah it’s game 1. Lebron has been in this position before.

Lakers shot a lot of 3s and they didn’t go the 2-man game With Lebron and AD.

Need to change it up for game 2.

That game should give Portland plenty of confidence. They really lifted at the end.

Sets up a very fun series.

@raznomore Yeah, you've got to question Billy Donovan's tactics against a team with no true C. Attack them in the paint.

First quarter they were dominant inside.

But you’ve got to hand it to the Rockets help defence. It has improved out of sight. Covington is a great team player.

    SGA just couldn’t get going.

@ACT-Crusader SGA has been struggling since entered the bubble. Some players have mentioned their inability to get going in a crowd less atmosphere. Maybe that's what is happening with him.

I agree the help d in the paint was good and aggressive from the Rockets.

The thing about this series is that Portland have been in the playoffs for a month. The Lakers have been coasting up until this point. Dame is currently the best player on the planet and feeling himself. Melo has accepted his lesser role and is thriving. McCollum is doing what he does fills the score sheet when Dame goes quiet. Nurkic is fully fit and way too much for a player like McGee to lockdown. Then they have Whiteside waiting to come in and swat everything. Don't get me wrong an 8th seed is usually coming into the playoffs having had to struggle for their place. But the Blazers are hardened and a much different proposition than had the Grizzlies made it through.

Last season Portland made the Western Conference Finals and on paper this year's team is better.

Had saved this game to watch tonight and my son blurts out 10 mins ago "Dad, Portland won!" 🤦‍♂️

[EDIT, Mods, why does my man face palm emoji default to the chicken with the arrow? Is there something I should know?]
