Exactly the same as the one above. On the bottom of the pool.

Nice looking pair of dress shoes right there RS!!

Tragically a smaller one (about 1/3rd that size) got caught in some wire mesh at the side of the house (the previous owners had a massive aviary there). Instead of exiting through the massive hole where he went in, the stupid bugger tried to go through the mesh. I wanted to help it but it was throwing itself around whenever I went near it and I was afraid it would rip itself to pieces. Incredibly enough the council send people to help if native wildlife is in trouble and 2 people came around to rescue the dumb prick. His condition is presently unknown, but the animal rescue people said he looked ok. If he pulls through that's one seriously lucky lizard.

But I digress (slightly)....

A good friend was training yesterday, so agreed to meet him that morning even though it was a weights-free day. Just did a heap of ab work.

Afternoon was sprint training with the kids. Another hot day, another good session. Added some step-ups and an obstacle course. Took a dip in the (lizard-free) pool and slept like a log.

Think I'll hit shoulders tonight, but am pretty worn out. Will see how I feel.
-

Was a bit too sore (or soft) to hit the gym last night so jumped in the pool and used the band thingy. Once again I wasn't alone, but Mr W. Dragon was at least at the other end this time. He darted into the skimmer box (with most of his tale sticking out) while I was swimming, but seemed unfazed. Problem is that I usually chuck the chemicals in the pool at night. If he's going to make a habit of having a dip every night I don't want to risk killing him. Bloody nature.

This morning I smashed shoulders and tickled the arms. Shoulders is a really good day. Side press, side lats, front raises, military press, shrugs. Can plow through them quickly and you really feel it afterwards. A couple of tattooed Neanderthals were there today which is very rare, but apart from regularly dropping weights and screaming they were relatively harmless.
-
Yes, wife has dubbed him Lorenzo
-

Saturday has become designated rest day, but more so because kids have swimming (and soon soccer) in the mornings and there is always heaps to do and am rarely sitting down.

Sunday: 45 minutes run in morning. Bloody hot, even at 7ish. Then spent 4 hours at the park later on. Swimming was also scheduled, but my fooking car battery went flat and by the time it was repaired the pool was almost closed.

Today: Chest and tris, Heavy today, so was a goody.
-
Tuesday: Back and biceps. Didn't have much time so very intensive. Definitely the best way to do things.
-
Baaa pretty shit week, both in terms of eating and training. Seriously, how here nor there is pizza? Had no time for sprint training

Managed a run on Friday night which was incredibly refreshing. Saturday morning I did a bit of cross fit: 30 burpees, 30 crunches, 50 metres in pool x 4. Didn't go too bad. The low impact pool stuff seems to provide a good buffer. Did plenty of soccer training with youngest as well.

Sunday: Evening run. Very nice. Missed swimming again due to son being at birthday party. Not happy about that.

Monday: Chest and triceps. Also very nice. -
Saturday catchup.

Tuesday was back and biceps. Pretty good session.

Wednesday: Sprint training with kids. Was pissing down with rain. Loved it! Very proud of boys. These sessions ain't easy.

Thursday: Shoulders. Always good.

Friday: Legs. Knees a bit wobbly, but went ok.

Will crack out a jog sometime today. -
Jog turned into a cross fit type exercise. 1km run to local oval. 2 laps of oval then 10 pullups and 10 dips at playground beside oval. Repeated the above 4 times. Ran home and sprinted up hill on way to house. Was fooking destroyed after that. I hate it but I love it!

Did you do it with your shirt off, then post photos all over facebook?

Otherwise it's not a real crossfit workout :)
-

Yep, together with the pouting lips and protein shake in one hand hashtag hashtag hashtag (:
-

Wednesday already!

Sunday: Ran the line at son's rugby game. Was one of those awful Brisbane days with heavy rain then steaming heat then rinse and repeat. Was wearing a rain jacket so was sweating bucket by the end of the game. It was a good game anyway. I co-coach the backline and they carved up. Could have scored more if the glory boy forwards didn't keep picking up the pill from the base of the ruck. Back in my day as a 10 year old flanker we always left the ball for the backs to fark up.

That evening was swimming with eldest. Heaps of laps and then races. The bugger isn't even 11 yet but he already beats me at breast stroke. Imindecline#

Monday: Chest and triceps. Nice and heavy. Good stuff.

Tuesday: Back and biceps. Also a good session.

Today is normally sprint training with kids but they have swimming carnival tomorrow so will just do pool work. Might go for a job myself this evening.
-

If he gets too smarmy just put him under some weight  struggling under a bar bell might make the little fish swim a bit slower!!

Gold! That'll learn him.

Btw when do you think kids can start using weights? I've heard 12-13 is best. -

Interesting question! I knew a kid at college who was hitting weights at 13 - he was strong as fuck but did have some back issues. But I think that was from a rugby injury rather than getting hurt lifting. Maybe related? not sure.

Now forgive me (it's a crossfit site) but I found an interesting article on lifting young.

http://boxlifemagazine.com/kids-weightlifting-how-young-is-too-young/

Seems they think you can start pretty early - certainly by 12-13. That bit about kids not putting on bulk was pretty cool, instead they can get more out of their existing muscles. Another link said 7-8 years old as long it's well directed.

As long as the form is good and the weight is well suited to their ability it sounds all good - guess that will be dictated by the interest of the kid/s involved!
-
Sweet. Thanks mate!
