@Rancid-Schnitzel TR Jnr is 15, up until now he has done more bodyweight stuff, but a few of his mates go to another gym, he wanted to join, so I did too.

He has alot of potential, but is a bit lazy, thought having his older brother up recently who is a solid unit who spends alot of time at the gym, would inspire him to go a bit harder, but is his inspiration is sporadic.

His best mate who goes to the gym and has been for a while, his dad is an Orthopaedic surgeon, so assume if he thought it was bad kids doing gym, he wouldnt let him do it.

At 12 and 10 I’m getting my boys to do push ups and negative chin ups. They both do much better when my other half is critiquing their form and they were shocked ( as was I ) when she busted out 25 good form push ups for the FB challenge ( but she didn’t put this online cos she didn’t want to upset her more out of shape friends, she’s such a girl )

How is she at pull-ups? My gf is a bit of a gym junky but can barely do 2.

    Shit. Great at running though

Yeah the difference in upper body strength is pretty huge. Makes those Crossfit women even more impressive.

She blames her ‘massive thighs’ cos she weighs all of 54kg or whatever.

As I said, such a girl.

Ordinary night's sleep so tough to get up to when Kenny Loggins blasted out Danger Zone, but I got up in the end. Good swim session. Intervals after were tough but they always are. There's a new swim coach. Only 19 but very innovative and very sharp. Good lad. No mucking around and good sets.

Feeling that I'm not getting enough grub into me during the week so gf suggested a steak meal one night a week. Sounds good to me. Definitely not quite getting the balance right RE diet. But no issues with the cheat meal today. Four schnitzels 👌

I had 🥩 three times this week. On the pan but I seared it well.....sorry I’ll save that kind of wank chat for the food page.

Swimming is a great workout, I’m immensely proud of my boys for battling through their lessons on Saturday like they do.

It has to be done properly. Can't stand chewy steak.

Yeah swimming is the bomb. Certainly got the bug. Can do a mean 25 free but am generally a crap swimmer. Still the best workout though. Great your boys are involved 👍

Pool closed for school holidays so did name workout today. Basically each letter of the alphabet has a work out. For instance O is 25 burpees. You match your full name to the letters and workouts. I have 4 names so it's a real killer. At one stage I had 50 burpees in a row!

Gymed it Tues then 3 days down the coast. Two long runs and some intervals. Fair bit of crap eaten but it's a holiday.

Legs yesterday, chest and biceps today. Not bad. Shoulder still a wee bit ginger from Saturday but able to train ok.

Thinking of doing the Gold Coast Marathon next July if it's on. The course is flat and the temp will be perfect. Will just be aiming to finish so won't specifically train for it. I'm concerned that the training itself will cause me more grief in terms of farked knees than the marathon itself. Good mate of mine fooked himself during the taper and had to walk the last part. I comfortably did two half marathons during the worst of Covid but obviously a full M is a much harder prospect.

@Rancid-Schnitzel shoulder injuries aint no fun.

I have an ongoing niggle, had cortisone, physio and short of surgery which they said may not fix it, it operates at 95% I reckon, although a couple of exercises I really struggle with (upright rows the main one) but can see on other exercises how my elbow isnt turned quite as much as the other due to the shoulder

Yeah, it's weird sometimes. For ages it was agony to do burpees but ok for everything else. Today, most shoulder exercises were ok but shoulder press was painful. Might have to rest it completely next week 😠

Swimming this morning. Former coach filled in for current dude and put up a brutal set. But got through it ok. Coach said that I looked "fucking fit man" which has made my decade.

At least you got that right. People get upset when you mention the gay one.

Supposed to be chest and biceps today but chest was pretty crap since I was trying to train around the dodgy shoulder. Reckon I'll have to bite the bullet and rest it. Poo bum wee.

Being stupid I didn't rest it and worked around it. Actually feels ok so maybe dodged a bullet. Or probably not....

    Back and swimming yesterday. Buggered.

Very good legs session this morning. Hopefully swimming coach doesn't go hard on kick board tonight. Christ I hate kick board. Absolute torture.

Have added a steak dinner to the diet and it seems to be doing the job. The issues with low blood sugar haven't been hovering. Also haven't really hit the sugary treats hard on cheat day and I think that has made a difference.
