A bit of oil in there

“ The Herald understands young utility back Will Jordan was supposed to be released, along with wing Sevu Reece and prop Tyrel Lomax, to join Ta$man for their Mitre 10 Cup match against Auckland at Eden Park on Saturday.”

So, neither Sevu nor Will is playing on the right wing - which, pretty much ensures Jordie is?

Beauden at fullback (since Josh Ioane is released).

I'd guess George was going to play wing again, with Caleb on the bench - though vice versa also possible. I wonder if Fozzie will tell us?

Leaving the three midfielders to shuffled according to the whims of Fozzie?

Bledisloe blow: All Black star's season over after training injury

Bad news for Hori, but good news for players who want to see others on the wing.

My ideal backline if all available:
Smith, BB, Clarke, ALB, Boris, Ioane, DMac (or JB to avoid a Canes fans/DMac haters meltdown, the other on the bench, either way there's going to be errors).

Rieko has played left and centre so right wing should be doable.

ouch , usually happens on the negative movement with poor technique or fatigue and the bar drops to one side and you try and correct .

@KiwiMurph Have to be one of those two, if Sevu is still going to be released to Ta$man.

    I reckon we'll now see:

Smith, Mo'unga, Clarke, ALB, Goodhue, Barrett, Barrett

Perenara, Ioane, Jordan - picking another "wing" makes more sense than picking another "fullback".

    @nostrildamus

They need to choose the best 15. DM is a great sub because no one has a clue what he is going to do (but the unpredictability is more of a liability when he starts).

Dmac played well on the weekend, if by bad selection you mean Jordie should have played there then sure I agree, but McKenzie was good.

@Chris-B We're talking about Fozzie here. He'll pick Dmac.

Terrible luck for Bridge, but a huge opportunity for Fozzie to make a good change. Perhaps some more muscle on the wing?

@canefan It's pretty much got to be Caleb or Rieko.

Not a huge fan of Bridge but you have to feel for the guy.

    Poo for him.

But not concerned about the effect on the team.

@Yeetyaah They were going to call up extra players for the RC squad, weren't they? Maybe not as many as initially planned, but still some extras. So they'll probably include an extra winger/outside back, even if they initially didn't plan to include one.

@Yeetyaah One on either wing? Or Rieko at centre again?

The second is quite likely - but, I'm slightly inclined to think they'll look at a few errors by Rieko and revert to last year's order.

Could easily be wrong about that.

I really can't see them "giving up" on their plans after one game. Sounds a bit fanciful to me.

Whatever midfield we think we need, I hope to god they pick a combo and play it.

I suspect this is the JG/RI option. Jack to provide muscle beside Richie, strength and support lines, and Rieko to split rush defence by having amazing acceleration and footwork in a bit of space.

Their first games together, and I think the first start in those positions for both. Can see them perservering, and getting a damn sight better (praying emoji thingy).

Also, we need a name for rat face Foster and his clan

Foster, MacLeod and Plumtree. We've had the Cartel and the Zoo ... what next?
