Very active weekend. As expected was hammered by Coach Hitler. There's something rather degrading about bear crawls along the side of a pool but they smash you good. Went for a long walk after that with the gf and had a shit load of garden work. Was about 36 degree so was absolutely fooked in the end.

This morning was similar to Saturday. Felt ok immediately after but then hit a wall. This is really good shit!

Funny there's been mention on the Grumpy Man thread of fat carnts telling fit people they're thin. Had that from an aunt I've not seen in ages while shovelling her face with cake. You have to laugh don't you.

    Shit, Thursday already!

Pretty good week. Definitely happy I added a steak meal to weekly diet. Was flagging a bit today.

Youngest had his first weight session today. Hope to do some boot camp with him during the holidays.

    Friday shoulders - yay

Sore shoulder much better but still conscious of not aggravating it. Can learn to live with it but will probably have to see the physio one of these days.

Anyway, good session. Very much digging the kettlebell shoulder press

Swimming boot camp thingy today with Himmler's spawn.

3x25 max effort swim then easy 25. Followed by 25 shoulder press, 10 burpees, 10 ab rollers, 20 kettlebell swings and 16 medicine ball pickups.

    Did that 5 times 😩

Really loving these. Tbh it appeared easier than whatever horrible butterfly drill some of the kids were doing. Shoulder felt good too so hopefully that problem will soon be behind me šŸ¤ž

Double up today. Weights in the am, swimming in the PM.

Weights was ok but swimming was one of those times that I felt amazing. Absolutely smashed it. Wish it was like that every time. Could have gone another half hour. Was feeling pretty damn tired immediately prior, but the body tis a strange thing.

    Bit of a lag here.

Saturday was a farking hard set. Seems like coaches are competing for KZ Kommandant award. Timed 50m sprints. Farking sucked. Run afterwards was hard.

Today: Other Kommandant had a crack. 1km warmup then 25m max, 10 push-ups, 10 squats, 10 burpees, 10 crunches. Then 25m max kick back to the other end and 10 med ball throws, 10 pyramid curls and 10 dips. Then bear crawls the length of the pool and back (stopping every 5 for 10 mountain climbers and a burpee). Then rinse and repeat. Did 4 all up I think. Pretty smashed now.

    Thursday already.

Tuesday: youngest had swimming training and gym for 2.5 hours so went to a local gym with a pool. Gym session was ok (gym a bit small), but pool was shit. Was pushing 40 degrees and half of farking Ipswich was there. Managed maybe a km but was sick of dodging or waiting behind hippos doing breaststroke.

Wednesday: Boot camp in the morning. This was tough. Bloody hot already at 6. Really like this type of training. Hope it becomes permanent.

Swimming then in the evening. Was hoping for an easy session but it was the opposite. 10x 100m on 2 min is never fun. Slept very well

Thursday: Pretty drained today but mustered a decent gym workout. Thankfully the heat isn’t so bad today. Hate aircon but might have to use it if the summer will be this bad.

What in your entire history of doing these sessions, led you to believe that this could be a possibility??!!!

Friday: This was a nice one. The mother of an old friend of my eldest trains at the same gym as me and is a bit concerned that her son has a bit of an eating disorder. She wants him to exercise rather than starve so has signed him up for the gym, but being only 15 he needs an adult with him to sign in etc and she and her husband work full time. So I was more than happy to do that. He’s a good kid. Shy and awkward, but very polite. Doesn’t like the ā€œfeelā€ of junk food and has been on a diet for 2 years. I can see why his mother is concerned. But I think he’ll be ok as long as he trains regularly and eats enough good stuff. I suggested a treat day but he doesn’t even want any treats! Hopefully regular exercise will make him realise he needs that extra fuel to achieve his goals. But I’m happy to chaperone him during the holidays. Unfortunately he has nothing more to do with my son and I wish I could train with both of them but it’s nice to help out a good kid with a bright future.

Saturday: Had a bad sleep and felt like death when swimming started but knew if I could get over the hump I’d be right. Was tough but got there. Run and intervals afterwards were murder in the heat but managed ok.

Monday: Humid as fück at 5! Sweated like a bitch during intervals so was nice to hit the pool even if it was a session concocted by Hitler’s spawn. One part we had to run around the pool holding a medicine ball over our heads. Another was doing bear crawls while pushing a medicine ball. When you think of it, it’s absolutely ridiculous that I pay money to do that! But I love that shit and is a great way to start the day.

diet has been discussed on another thread, but it is so much cheaper to buy/eat shit food, so not only a conscious decision for families, but a financial one as well.

Sure easy to say your health is high importance, but cost still plays the part in decisions.

Definitely. For a teenager that is freaking hard, because (as you are probably very well aware of) they eat ridiculous amounts. His parents seem switched on so that’s good and it doesn’t always have to be so expensive if you’re happy to do without the variation. Chicken and rice are pretty cheap here. Same for things like lean turkey mince and frozen veggies.

Musashi? They have some great products. Expensive but quite often on special.

Have a bottle of Musashi Shred which I will sample this week. 30g of protein and 0.9 sugars or something

I remember dad bought cans of spaghetti/baked beans, along with bread and a block of cheese. That was our after school but before dinner meal. Head home - refuel then off out until returning to eat dinner. Cheese on toast, toasted sammies, etc were staples. We didn't mind our veges or fruit so didn't have any problems eating a pretty decent diet overall.

When my eldest was swimming he’d eat stupid amounts of pasta. Would just remove the pot from the stove and eat from it.
