@Kruse what needs doing, I know plenty of repairers arent open until next week...everything is closed on a Sunday evening cos christian values 😆

I just need a new rear tyre. I'm hoping Shaw Motorcycles will be open tomorrow... if not, he's got a cellphone number on the front door for emergencies, which I'll ring.
Mostly terrible timing.... 1st, public holiday, then the weekend - none of you lazy Northlanders working, then 2nd public holiday.
And my own fault, if I'd not underestimated the kms I was clocking, I'd have noted the wear earlier, and maybe got it done before starting off. And bloody WOF recently, the guy didn't even mention it was close.

    Wonder Woman 1984
Context: So, on a road trip around Northland, I realise one tyre is down to the wire, and I limp into Whangarei. On New Years Day, with everything shutdown. I've now got 4 days to kill until a motorcycle workshop opens on Tuesday (hopefully)... and the “National Clock Museum” can only hold my interest for about an hour.
So, to the movies it is... with a limited selection.
Wonder Woman, following the current trend of fucking everything being set in, or referencing, the 80s.
And I get that the silliness, plotholes, overall terribleness, can partially be explained away by “homage to the 80s movies”... but... it was fucking awful. Silliness, plotholes, overall terrible.
And then, on my walk back to dodgy hotel... all the pubs are bloody closed, at like 7pm on a Sunday.
    What the fuck?
2 Gal is rather hot out of 5 fuck off the 80s.
    Just fuck off.
Edit: and now I've got one more day to kill... and the other movie available looks even worse... Monster Hunter.

    national clock museum you say?

A good hour's worth of clocks. The mechanics of a clock are actually interesting... if you're stuck in Whangarei for four or five days.

Yeah, saw the billboard for it... looks to be a giant version of one they've got in the museum, which did hold my interest for some time, trying to figure out how it worked.

I was planning on ferry there, road back.
But ferry queue was ridiculous, and I tried the wrong road... I saw Russell Road, and thought it must be an option, but first tried some other road which turned to gravel quite early, and I gave up on the whole thing. A super late lunch at McLeods instead.

And now, at Mangawhai Tavern... Leigh Hart has walked in... he isn't drinking his shitty unfunny wakachangi beers, that's for sure.
I dearly want to explain to him how he hasn't done a single slightly amusing thing in his entire career, and “comedy” in NZ would be well served by him just disappearing, complete with his gimmick “beers” and chips and whatever else ... but he is quite the large fluffybunny.

He actually tried to start up a conversation... the bike being the excuse. I politely snubbed him.
He is the farthest thing from comedic, and the polar opposite of a genius.

Indeed. I was musing on that yesterday evening. And that 50% of people have a 2-digit IQ.

Point well made. I assume that the below is why you said it, factually correct and is rather depressing.

QI about IQ - They kind of have to have half below 100 as the tests are designed to maintain an average of 100 points, but it does explain a lot about the general population. The problem with keeping it at 100 is that it removes any trend over time. Are people getting thicker or smarter? I know what I think, but I'm a GOM.

I learnt to fly with Hart's brother who had a similar "sense of humour". More smartass than comedy but a good bloke.

So where to now @kruse? Mangawhai tavern to...
Oh and what is your bike that prompted the snubbing?

I've actually backtracked, sitting in Russell right now.
Next... dunno, need to start heading south, for work in Wellington on Monday.
My bike... Triumph Speed Triple. Leigh saw it as he entered, then 5 minutes later, just happened to make a call to a mate, took it outside to where I was sitting, and commenced to loudly ask his mate about his bike.
Then asked some rudimentary questions of me, and slunk off when I treated him with the disdain he deserved.
Or, that was my takeaway of it all anyway.

So that lunch at The Duke is happening? Smoked duck breast salad is good, or they have a ceviche for something lighter. It's all damned fine though and I am jealous of both the idea of lunch at The Duke, and your bike. Nice machine.

You actually said "Hi Leigh, love your work. Now how long have you got so that I can tell you all about the bike?". Didn't you?
