the codes to scan have been moved "out of the way", or rather - onto the glass front door
Yep. Where they aren't as noticeable.
I still have them (in the way) in my stores to encourage / remind people.

@R-L yeah that's kinda a one way trip isn't it.
You can scan in but never out!

It's a cellar! TBH I didn't bother getting a code for that, covid is the least of your worries.

@Snowy and we all wear masks down here!
Oh! You're the Polish chick, I didn't recognise you.
Is anybody actually wearing masks in NZ (not those ones)? Are they still necessary on public transport? Haven't seen anybody wearing one for a while.
-
@Snowy Still required on public transport and all flights. I used one today to catch a bus to work as my car is in the panelbeaters.
I still see a small % (I would say 5 max) using them. Including my personal favourite - the person driving alone in a car .
Every time I venture to the shops I would see a handful of people masked up.

You are clearly living in an area of like minded, responsible civic minded saints.
I am worried about the S5 though. O.K?
As for masks it reminds me of my wedding day:
Nothing to do with turnips but we got married in Hong Kong in the middle of SARS. The whole town was masked up. made for great photos - that aren't so funny now.

Anyone else struggled with the hurdles of the MIQ booking system?
Son and partner have been trying to secure a Iso slot to book for return from UK.
Have been waiting for new allocation dates in April to come up (by 22/4 according to website) which has meant around the clock checking in case they are added in. We are doing the overnight shift for them.
Anyway they caught onto a released date in early March last week which made us all scramble to try and secure a flight. A flight was listed and able to be booked from Singapore so we got excited except to find that both MIQ and SA had listed a scheduled flight into ChCh which simply doesn't exist. Long story short is that there wasn't a flight into AKL that day (there was one at 2345 the day before which would have them hopping on the Iso bus on the booked day but that wasn't allowed). We released the Iso booking anyway, which turned out to be a lucky move as Singapore stopped transit travel from UK that day.
Anyway a slot was released by someone on 29 March so we jumped on it then went to travel agent to confirm a flight through Dubai. Airline confirmed flight would be operating (at present) so we shelled out. Went back into Iso booking but that flight wasnt listed in the dropdown. Contacted MIQ (long wait) to be told that, yes they knew the flight was arriving but the system hasn't been updated yet and we would have to keep checking back for the update. What happens if they don't update before the iso booking expires? We lose the iso slot AND the booking fees on the flight.
I know that things are changing but there is no system in place to cover when you have the two correct bookings but waiting on someone to update the database. Aaaaaargh! -
@R-L I’m in Oz not NZ, but here cafe staff will often direct you to sign in before they’ll seat you, and the supermarkets that do have sign in usually have a staff member at the door asking you to do it.
Also, NSW has one standardised app now so you don’t need to enter details every time. For about 8 months there were a bunch of different ones.

During second lockdown I was at a Zed fueling up and when I got back doors wouldn't open. Roadside assist couldn't get into it. (S5's are really hard to break into it seems. The windows are rebated an even when he used the bladder to prise open the window and could release the door handle it doesn't open as the alarm activates a deadlock)
Anyways it got taken to Giltraps who needed a part from Singapore (3 weeks $1,100) which didn't fix the issue - I suspect they went for the first issue on the diagnostics without looking down the read out. Another three weeks (further $800) and they dropped it off for me in Albany - late. I said cheers and rushed out to visit a client. Because the dopey fucknuckles had parked over the kerb -it ripped the bumper clean off. Like they didn't realise the S5 was a low car.
I had a 2 cm crack in the bumper which I had tape on to stop it spreading so they didn't come to the party saying it was pre-existing damage!!!! DO NOT USE GILTRAPS
So insurance job. Next problem. My S5 is factory modified. There are no matching bumpers in NZ - or Australia. They can get one from Germany for $15K plus freight. Six months minimum. So I did a deal with the insurance company. I'm getting a bit of other cosmetic damage done and a full respray of the front half of car and in return I'm accepting a standard S5 bumper.
Various parts shortages means it still took 4 months until everything was available. Pick it up in half an hour. Hopefully it won't look too emasculated. It really did have a muscle car vibe previously.
Did I mention Do Not Use Giltraps
-
@dogmeat Wow. Bugger.
It really is a bit shit that they couldn't fix it. I had a damaged carbon fibre spat on my plane and it came back like new.
Sorry, but I feel a little better about the "S" badge falling off my one today due to our shit roads. I might have mentioned the roads previously.
