You blink and it’s Thursday!
Ran out of eggs and Kale on Tuesday and wasnt in the best way when I got up on Wednesday. Shows just what a fine line the diet is. Need every calorie I can get. But ended day on a high. Brutal swimming session.
Good push session today. Looking forward to a good pull tomorrow 😁
You’ll have to let us know how the weights go too.

Coach Hitler again today. I’m not sure what’s worse, his sets or him trying to engage me in conversation while I’m in the middle of them. Not easy trying to pretend to be polite while in the middle of 20 burpees.
Pull session later was also most satisfying. As was the gym session.
Youngest had GPS swimming champs today. His school got absolutely destroyed and his relay team came last (although his breaststroke leg was very good). But yeah, training during the Christmas holidays then another 6 weeks for that result. He wasn’t impressed. Ah well, it was great he made the team but this will be a hobby and fitness training going forward. Unless you’re a farking potential Olympian you’re insane to put in that kind of training. It simply isn’t worth it.

I like what you did there.
My boys swim once a week which is good for them but yeah, the amount of training required if you’re seriously into it is crazy.

It's madness. My daughter qualified for HICES swimming Carnival, which is the equivalent meet for independent schools. The meet is today, out at Homebush, she is doing the 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke, events #77 and #104 on the card.
She asked if I was going to watch, I said no fcking way am I taking a day off work to watch you come last in 2 races that total less than 2 minutes of action She is fine with that, doesn't particularly like swimming, it's all athletics for her (which I absolutely love watching and never miss)

Yep. When both my boys were swimming I had to attend the morning session for the youngest then go home and pick up eldest for afternoon sessions. All for maybe 5 minutes of pool action. And I used to think it was a bonus that they didn’t play cricket because it took up so much time! The expense is shit as well. Meets generally cost $8.50 a race. So times that by 4 and you get a stupid amount of money per second. Youngest was also DQed on the blocks once so that was money well spent 😫.
It is a wonderful sport and gives amazing baseline fitness. I’m certainly addicted. But unless you’re a potential Olympian it’s mad to train that much. Training 10-12 a week is bound to have a pretty detrimental effect on school work. Simply not worth it.

My youngest plays Cricket and I’m one of the coaches. It is a fucken pain in the arse getting to Aotea ( that’s where the ex lives ) to get him ready for a game at 8.30.
Luckily he has taken up wicket keeping and is surprisingly good at it so that keeps him involved for 10 out of 20 overs in the field. He’s a slow, awkward bowler ( hard to get runs off sometimes ) and his batting is hit and miss so I definitely have a potential B Mac on my hands if I manage him right haha.
Next year they have LBWs and if you’re out you’re out ( as opposed to 4 or 5 over partnerships that they have currently ) so I’m dreading his first Golden duck.

So they encourage reckless, consequence free, batting from a young age? That explains a lot about the Black Caps batting over the years.

Well after 23 dismissals last week ( every time you get out you lose three runs ) I’m definitely focussing on forward defensive strokes at training this week.

Psycho week work wise and bit of a twinge in the lower back have impeded training this week, although I only missed on session on Monday morning. Just been taking it a bit easier. Should perhaps be resting but I can’t. Was going spare all of Monday until swimming that night. Back in the day I wouldn’t train during a very heavy work week but that shit is non negotiable now. Let’s just 🙏 that I never suffer a serious injury or else I’m furked.

I hear ya!
MIne still not 100% and everytime I start feeling like its getting right I twist or bend and feel a slight twinge.
Have largely stopped any major back stuff, but doing plenty of core (did some hanging toes to hands or whatever they call it, bit unco looking) to try and fix it.
Will have 3 days off next week for a school camp so that would help, aside from having to sleep on a shitty bed for 2 nights...
-
End of push/pull. That went quick 😲 and back to more traditional 4 day split.
Legs, shoulders, chest and biceps, back and triceps. Swimming on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Bootcamp Wednesday and long run Saturday. Jesus I’m a masochist....Legs this morning and it was a good un. Am starting each session with 8-10 mins of abs and finishing with either 10x kettlebell swings and 15 sit-ups on the minute or 100 push-ups in as few sets as possible. Good shit.

And Thursday already. Damn the weeks go fast but unfortunately the weekends go faster ☹️.
Been a really solid week. Did boot camp yesterday for the first time in a while. Didn’t quite feel mashed enough so ran 4km afterwards. Felt really good. Swimming has also been great this week. It’s weird how the best sessions are often the ones when you feel like death beforehand.
Coach Hitler back tomorrow then swim and long run Saturday. Have to feel some pain before that marathon.

Last week very 👌.
Managed to bang out 16km after swimming on Saturday. Was bloody tough because coach decided to go all out on kick board. Farking hate that shit. But happy to get through the pain of the run. The area I live in is hilly as anything so that flat terrain of the marathon will be much easier. As will the temp. Spoke to a guy on Saturday who did 58 marathons in one year so quite a bit more relaxed about it now. He reckoned the fitness is there, just don’t overdo it. He also suggested trying to find someone to talk to while running. Makes the time go quicker. I guess any distraction will do.Anyway I’ll officially sign up this week. No turning back 💪.

That’s nothing. He knew a dude that did 250. They travel the world going in marathons. It’s like a light run for these nutters.

Talking is very much so up to you, so I wouldn't take advice on that one. I hate it. Running is about me, my times, my energy and my thoughts. Multiple people have suggested that to keep me motivated, but no interest. Which is at odds with me generally. I'm no salesman, but I love having people around.
At the risk of going all Oprah Winfrey, honestly if I can do a marathon, then anybody can.

Yeah I can see both sides. I think for me I need that distraction. When I start thinking I tend to overthink things. Plus 4 hours is a lot of time to kill!

And Thursday again! Bloody hell the weeks fly. Pity it means the weekends also fly just as fast.
As per the Beta alanine thread I started using preworkout on Wednesday. Took it before boot camp and it really got me going. Got the trainer to make it extra tough. Finished with 4km jog. Good shit.
Swimming later that night and I think I’ve labelled the wrong trainer Hitler. Actually this prick looks like someone out of the Hitlerjugend. Båstard has been ordering extra kicking recently and went crazy last night. Was about a km of that shit. Legs were jelly by the end of it. Slept well that night.
Today: first tin lifting workout with the drugs. Oh man🤯💪
-
Friday: Swim intervals with Herr Hitler.
3x25 Max then 1 easy, followed by
10 push-ups
Bear crawls 12.5m, lunges back then 30sec static squat x 2 then back in pool. Those static squats are a cnut. Didn’t help when Hitler told me to do the max efforts with as few breaths as possible. Prick.
Saturday: Had to get up at 4:45 to get run in before swimming. Always rude when there’s a 4 in the time when getting up but son had volleyball early in bloody Ipswich. Run went well with pre workout. Swim was tough.
Interesting thing happened in son’s volleyball game. He played out of his skin but they lost a really close game. He was in tears and raging about it. First time I’ve actually seen him care about a game. Good thing he could express himself in Norwegian too otherwise he may have hurt a few feelings. So somewhat mixed feelings there. Stoked that he’s taking it seriously, but a wee bit concerned as well.
