    Dyvbig,

    Kenny McFadden

Was a golden time of NZ basketball.

Still recall McFadden winning a championship with a last minute shot and I'm pretty sure it was Dybvig who gave it the "he did it godammit, it he did it"

Saints were the glamour team growing up in the Hutt (pre-Shakers days), they were stacked. I still remember going to games at a sold out Madgwick Stadium when the Rheineck or Countrywide League was at it's peak. McFadden, Hill, then Boagni, and a host of then NZ reps. The loud music, the antics of the gorilla mascot, the showmanship, it was all in stark contrast to going to the rugby

I can't really place him, but an upvote for the name 'Boagni'

He was the Saints 10. I'm sure the "Jazz man" had his way in Wellington back in the day

He was so smooth. Bernard King-like

I really liked Angelo Hill and McFadden as a pair. But Boagni took things to a whole new level. I'd forgotten that we also had Peter Pokai in that season, before he joined the Shakers. Guys like John Saker, Ralph Adams all graced the Saints over the years

@booboo hope vic meldrew clocks on later to tell me the name of the gun Rams point guard import of that era.🤔

Sorry for the thread hijack but it's more like a wake. Won't take too long🙂

NZ born or imported? I seem to remember a black American, Clyde someone?

    alt text

    Clyde the glide Huntly (inset)

I could remember 'Clyde'. That memory cell hasn't been used for 30 years!

Basketball - NZ vs Australia, second test (1978) - This highlights package focuses on the last few minutes of the historic first-ever win by the New Zealand basketball team over Australia in the second test of the 1978 series. After losing by 22 points in the first test, the unfancied kiwis fought...

I'd forgotten how much the celebrations looked like Gates and Ballmer on the Microsoft stage...

Watching two teams of white guys looks strange too.

    I met Tab in Indy.

I did see the death notice but wasn't sure if it was that Alan Riley. I often used to see him running when he was a ref.

Pretty sure he reffed me. Would have still been running around in the mid 90s?

@booboo Still refereeing in the late 1990s.

I am surprised that the WRU didn't acknowledge his passing. Maybe I shouldn't be.

    Rightly so.

*The chemtrail conspiracy theory posits the erroneous[1] belief that long-lasting condensation trails are "chemtrails" consisting of chemical or biological agents left in the sky *

Who decided it was erroneous? I was spreading chem trails over the planet for over 20 years.

I'm not old enough to really remember but that bitch was poisoning us all. Or was it just a fart joke?
