    @paekakboyz yeah they are!

Another good finishing exercise I do, is a farmers carry, but instead of just carrying, you 'shrug' and hold it, for the whole carry, and then double down with some shrugs with a lighter weight, 5 sets of that at the end gets those shoulders burning!!

I do weighted lunges with a couple of 20kg plates in a pair of shitty old back packs in each hand. Every time I do them I wish I just skipped leg day instead, fuck they’re brutal.

Still alive, if being a walking zombie counts!?

Did score myself some kettlebells in the weekend though. A 14kg and a 24kg KB. I want to get a 32kg one for harder squats etc but extra reps with the 24kg one will do the trick. A 16kg one is also on the shopping list as that is a good weight for lots of presses and shoulder stuff.

lol, they have now sat in the house for 3 days without being used... but it's been farking cold and the kids have been sick... tomorrow! I promise I'll workout tomorrow 😂

Don’t get lazy with the grip on those, swinging kettlebells slip out of the hands once you start to get fatigued if you’re not too careful.

@mn5 good point, I probably do need to get some lifting chalk. Definitely won't be lifting indoors or near windows... small children can take their chances lol.

@paekakboyz I hear ya bro, thats why I had to join the gym (obviously kids at different points in life helps too) cos I struggled to find the time at home to do stuff...

Get home, kids crying, cook dinner, whatever, no time (more motivation to make time) for workout, then weekends you do lawns, gardening, kid stuff or whatever else, again, working out last thing on list.

You'll just have to go running, I hear @MN5 loves a good long run!

you just gotta make time bro. i do 6 sessions a week...

he says smugly with kids old enough to stay home by themselves while i go early in the morning

i am completely incapable of pushing myself to workout at home. no amount of new equipment is going to do it. it's why it all slipped away when i was at the same stage you were. Heaps better now.

Yep. Once you can leave them alone without them dying then it’s pretty damn sweet. I try to eat breakfast with my son most mornings but a couple of mornings a week I set an alarm for him so he gets up in time.

well I've managed one session and I'm going to be fucking sore tomorrow. Hammys are already rarking up a storm. Primo to do some mahi though! I am getting access to a new gym through work. That's a block and half away from work so I'll train there and the KBs for my working from home sessions. If I do anything in the weekend then that's a bonus.

I’m the opposite. I love a good home workout whether it’s weights/calisthenics/punching bag or whatever. Whatever works for the individual as long as it’s consistent.

Oof, bit of an unwanted hiatus. But I managed a workout at the gym near work. Holy shit my hammies were singing after the first set of squats. It was soooo good to move some weight. Had missed the post-work buzz! totally worth the incoming soreness 🙂

I live, and I suspect I won't be able to walk tomorrow! nothing like leg day to ease back into training. Have been pretty shit with any sort of activity over the last couple of months. I have mucked about with my KBs a few times but the mojo just hasn't been there.

With the usual caveat that heaps of folks are doing it tougher, holy shit this year has been gnarly. First half was epic work stress (new platform going live) + hectic home life and then we've gone back to the lockdown shenanigans.
My mental health hasn't been great at times, and I know that working out is the best way for me to manage stress and stuff. So it's time to just make the gym fit. Even if that's only twice a week. It'll be far easy to add in something at home with a bit more routine going.
Of course now I've drawn that line in the sand for myself we'll probably go to level bloody 3 ! sorry bout that folks!

In surprising news I was 96kg! which surprised me no end. I've def added a bit of fat and lost some muscle. But my eating has been better lately and I know I can put muscle on pretty easily. So I was stoked about that, the icing on the endorphins from a good workout.

For legs I did some mobility stuff - then a few sets of back squats. Only up to 60kg just to get back in the swing. Did some tempo squats and pause sets. My hammies were pinging hardout! Then I did my usual single leg extensions and hammy curls.
Added in some seated DB curls and skullcrushers, and even a few sets of light seated shoulder press. Enough to get a bit of a pump 🙂

I haven't posted as much but I've totally been motivated the regular gang - @JK and @Rancid-Schnitzel you fuckers are just built different, I have lol'd hard at JKs cardio buy-in for his sessions. I know @MN5 has been flipping cars and @taniwharugby has been training as much as lockdown has allowed.... pretty sure @NTA has been putting runs on the board too!

Right, that should be at least 4 likes!!

    Dang! where's that @Hooroo at!!

    One from me.

At least you’ve kept the same thread going and not stopped and started different ones like other ferners have done.

Keep fighting the fight, we’re all in the same boat !

Great that you got a session in Bro. Out of anyone I think you have plenty of just cause for not being able to train. Hopefully things will calm down for you in 2022. Still have plenty of time ahead of you.

@taniwharugby gold!! I am trying to push the work stuff aside a bit more so I can enjoy time with the kids. Our youngest is 2 in January and he's good value when he's not doing a mini hulk-smash routine (secretly proud of that ha ha).

@Rancid-Schnitzel dude it was crazy how my view switched yesterday after a doc visit and the gym session + weigh in. Doc has pretty much ordered that I get my gym/exercise going again - so that helps heaps to prioritise it as best I can. Plus I wasn't as chonk as I feared so that's hugely motivating.

@paekakboyz yeah my last Dr visit has given me more motivation to not let things slip this lockdown, not to mention I had a nasty infection which required 15 days of a strong antibiotics (finished on Wednesday)

    The battle is real 🙂
