Runners and water carriers masked up at AFL game in Adelaide. Crowd maskless. Coach must mask when walking onto the ground then takes off mask.
Theatre, nothing more than that. The authorities think we are so dumb. Farcical.
Edit. Spectators must mask entering and exiting and walking around Adelaide oval, but not required to mask when seated.
Clever virus the Adelaide variant
it was the same when Qld had their "mask mandate" i went to a Taipans game, and had to wear everywhere except as soon as i was seated. Apparently you are immune to COVID if you are sitting down
Canberra Stadium prevents you from standing around on the concourse. But you can line up to purchase food and drinks, go to the toilet or sit next to people for nearly two hours unmasked, because the virus can't get you then.
These rules are so obviously ridiculous and drive contempt for them and those making them.

Toronto has been under some sort of lockdown since early October. Indoor dining has not been allowed since the start of the pandemic. Non-grocery retail hasn't been open in since pre-Christmas. Other areas of the province have had slightly more lax restrictions at times (not much, non-grocery retail has been closed for all but a month province-wide in 2021) - but its' safe to say that everyone is pretty keen to open things up ASAP. Everyone sees a clear relationship between getting the vaccine and things getting back to normal - this doesn't seem to be the case in Aus/NZ (Melbourne perhaps is changing).
The Prime Minister says vaccines won't open the borders.
https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/health-safety/delta-variant-could-keep-australias-borders-closed-scott-morrison-warns/news-story/9777bb4b983ab840b6c4a6a21fa2fb3dPublic opinion on this is going to change very quickly once vaccines ramp up and they've seen the US and UK open for the better part of a year.
For someone who is lauded for being a political genius Morrison struggles to make the most basic reads of public sentiment - worse than any PM since Keating. If he thinks the public will be throwing roses at his feet like in WA and Queensland come March next year he is delusional.

To be fair, stupid rules didn't just start with Covid. The one I always liked is that the blokes who hang out in the smoking areas of the RSL aren't allowed to consume food there. They have to eat their burgers with the non-smokers before slinking back to the haze.
So idiotic.

After all my whinging about the slow rollout of the Gates 5G chip to 40-49 year olds after Gladys made a song and dance about it, I forgot to update the thread to say I'm finally getting it done today. And at a centre with in walking distance ... no hike out to Homebush.
Still some weird stuff going on though. My mate who lives with a hospital worker should have been eligible before me yet he wasn't given a booking until the day I get my second jab.

I had 5 options before Homebush. For some reason I missed the closest one to me and was signing up to St Vincents over in Darlinghurst when I decided to double check the original page and there was one at the Royal Prince Alfred which is closest to me.
I wonder if you can do a search for your closest and book closer?

This is like being at a theme park ride where there’s staggered waiting areas so you don’t know how long the queue is for.
Although the ride part was finding the initial registration centre - there’s was about 15 people all wandering around in circles until a security guard drove past and pointed it out.
I’m sitting behind a middle aged male cop who has variously been trolling through Facebook and playing mobile games the entire time. The golf game was fine - then he played a flower arranging game. 🤣

I'm not going to knock it until I've tried it, and I would prefer that an armed cop played online with flowers, than Manhunt or Grand Theft Auto.
fernie nomination for that post i think

Yeah I was wondering who the creepy guy looking over my shoulder was. He kept muttering something about how a Cantab once stole his lollipop. I even tried putting flowers on my phone to calm him down.
