For a big man duhan der merwe is incredibly fast, Anthony Watson looks good alongside furlong sinckler and beirne lions looking sharp

VDM joins a long line of big, fast wingers with limited rugby IQ

Will only make Test 23 due to lots of injuries

Commentators just called fellow-commentator Miles Harrison "The Voice of the Lions" and "the best in the business". WTF?

Harrison is to commentary what Mike Catt is to tackling Jonah Lomu - useless.

Oh the guy they were just talking about was named rookie of the year in the aretayrawa rugby awards huh 🤦

We might mock Wimpie's size but he hits like someone twice his size.

    Himeno!!

Man's a beast. If he was NZ-born I'd expect him to be pushing for a place in the AB 23.

If he was aretayrawa born you mean. Wimpie or Kazuki?

EDIT: Thought the words the commentato used were "Hey O'Toole's a rower"...

To be honest I think him and Jacobson are almost clones in the way they play. So fingers crossed.

AWJ has dislocated his shoulder. Not travelling with the squad. Not definitely out for the Tests. Gatland will need to find a new Tour Captain.

Gutted for the guy. Amazing durability and then to get crocked at his biggest moment. That sucks.

That could be a huge loss. AWJ's mana will be really missed as the team gels together

Gutted for him. One of my all-time favourite players.

Anybody seen this from Gatland, continuing to endear himself to NZ?

"There was an orchestrated campaign in the New Zealand media to try to unsettle me. That really threw me,” Gatland said.

Of course, he then seems to back down on this, or at least contradict himself, with...

“I’ve never been a person who has worried about external influences,” said Gatland

I think the truer way to describe your experience, Warren, would be

"The New Zealand Media, following the fickle public opinion, took a dislike to me. And I didn't like that. And that just became a death-spiral. Still - I'll say whatever you like to get some sweet sweet headlines in the British media leading up to the Lions tour."

Feel sorry for AWJ. Found first half refereeing mystifying. Clearly different focuses to Super rugby. Think it took the Japanese a wee while to adjust.
