What are the numbers on the screen in brackets next to the time? Cumulative score?

Yeah. The mountain that Tonga have to climb

    Seems to be.

Nice try there. Clearly the live streamer behind my stream is Samoan.

Did they just say the second Tongan try scorer had represented Samoan and nz at u20 level?

I'm glad this is becoming a real contest. Tonga looks like another team since the half time break. It won't be enough to win qualification after that big loss in the first test, but it's great to watch.

@kiwiwomble IIRC, Sione Tuipulotu has represented Tonga at U20 level first, then Samoa.

Nothing unusual for players of mixed heritage.

@kiwiwomble Think he was only in the NZ U20 wider training squad. Maybe got called up into the full squad but didn't play.

Been all Tonga, second half. Pity they have an impossible target to reach, makes it a good game for neutrals

Any available players from these teams that would be good signings for Manu Pasifika?

Alaalatoa is going to France, but maybe Motuga, Tuipulotu, and Lam?

This is correct. He was invited to the two NZU20s camps, but wasn't named in the NZU20 squads for the 2017 Oceania U20 Championship and WR U20 Championship. So he never played for NZ U20s, but he played for Tonga U20 in 2015 and Samoa U20 in 2016.

That's good officiating. It definitely needed checking.

Neria Fomai. Was already a fringe Super player this year.

Think the commentators got it wrong.

The winner of Tonga/Cook islands still has to play winner of Asian Championship (one of Hong Kong/Malaysia/South Korea)

@dice Yep, on a injury replacement contract with the Blues during SRA and with the Highlanders during SR T-T. It's a pity he didn't get a single cap.

Samoa has now qualified for 2023 RWC and won a spot in pool D with England, Japan, Argentina and Americas 2. That's going to be tough.

Tonga will play the Cook Islands on 24 July in Pukekohe (Asia/Pacific qualifier). The winner will play the Asia Rugby Championship winner (most likely Hong Kong) twice in the so-called "Asia-Pacific play-offs". The winner of these play-offs will end up in pool B with South Africa, Ireland, Scotland and Europe 2. Tonga should normally win that.

The loser of these play-offs ends up in the Final Qualfication Tournament.

This Tongan side should beat Cook Islands, but they may need a couple of reinforcements just in case for the next match.

Problem is, these games are not in the international window, so some pros might not be allowed to play
