Watching the medal ceremony I noticed that one of the ROC rowers initially picked up the gold medal instead of their silver medal.

Proof that we can't trust those Russians! 🙂

Just quietly, Twigg is the fastest qualifier, and the Irish favourite missed out in the other SF.

    Lunchtime viewing tomorrow:
    12:33 pm - women's single sculls
    1:05 pm - women's eight
    1:25 pm - men's eight

    What a 100m freestyle final.

Dressell wins it with an Olympic record whilst Aussie Kyle Chalmers only swam .06 seconds behind in trying to defend his Rio gold.

Its a shame the woman's sculls cant also do a 1000m, 500m, 2500m, forward, backwards as well...then we could clean up in the medals like the other countries do in swimming...

At least we have the kayaking to come, Lisa "Big guns" Carrington must be a serious contender again

They kind of have that in the kayaking.

They do, but not 6 or 7 gold medal opportunity kind.
They need to throw in some team versions, backwards, and about another 4 or 5 distances...

Thought he had him but Dressel held on. Dressel will clean up after this.

It really would. I'd watch that. They could ditch a few of the other sports to accommodate.

Lewis Clareburt into the 200IM final. 7th fastest. Considering it's not his favoured event that's a great effort.

He put in a good final 50 m freestyle leg to get 4th in that SF.

The NZ swimmers who have to date set new PB's or broken a NZ record have done a fucking great job.
Thats all you can ask of them really.

China have just set a WR to win the women's 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay ahead of the USA and Australia.

Well the simplest way to do it would be to hand out gold medals for every 500m section of the race. That way if you lead from start to finish you could win 4 gold medals!!

Or simply hold individual races in 500m increments up to say 3km - that'll do it!

USA and Australia both beat the previous WR with their times too. Crazy! Huge upset for Aus not to win after how dominant they were entering the final.

And they didn't look happy to finish with a bronze. Another 5 m and Ledecky would have touched first.
