@canes4life I thought the forwards apart from the 2nd half disintegration against Waikato seemed to have a lot more “steel” about them under him.

@mikey07 yeah that's what I noticed aswell. We looked really hard to contain with the likes of Aumua, Fidow, Bird etc being really direct on attack. Too bad we had no depth on the bench when injuries struck.

Lockdown has probably saved our bacon a little bit, allowing that big injury toll to re-coup somewhat.

@canes4life Saw Numia has been training the last couple of days off his Instagram, so the longer this goes on definitely the better for us.

@mikey07 just depends if the season ends up being canned or not.

@mikey07 interesting that Numia's partner plays for the Cantabs.

@mikey07 to be fair the Wellington women’s side nearly upset them the other day down there.

@canes4life I wonder whether that has already to do with a possible women's SR comp, next year? She made the Black Ferns playing for Wellington, so obviously something changed. No money involved in women's rugby, so that can't be it.

@stargazer yeah interesting. You’d think it would be a lot easier on their relationship if she stayed in Wellington. Who knows what the story is there.

Are they married? That would explain things

Being a fellow red head though means he will most likely keep picking JBlackwell.

Nah, even gingers hate gingers. Tito won't favour Blackwell.

I don’t understand the hate that Blackwell gets. He’s a solid SR player regardless of his height.

Same with Prinsep. I get the argument that he shouldn’t start that often.. he’s not the most dynamic carrier but he gets through a lot of work on defence. A good squad option.

    Is it mostly provincialism?

@duluth Not questioning his workrate, but Blackwell has the same butterfingers as Shields and his decision making can be quite off, too. He has butchered quite a few try scoring opportunities over the years.

The hate that Blackwell gets surely comes because his constant selection keeps out of the team someone like IWL who probably deserved more playing minutes.

IWL's lineout work is substandard, he's a ridiculously soft tackler for such a big guy and regularly looks unfit (fat) for a professional rugby player. He should get more minutes once he appears to actually take professional rugby more seriously.

    @cgrant

Maybe, but IWL has had a few issues on defence. I don’t think he’s shown enough to clearly pass a hard worker like Blackwell. The Canes need some glue players in the pack

I just find it weird. He’s one of the most criticised players and he doesn’t seem to warrant the criticism
