@Anonymous yep, and in this case it's a really clear breach if the rules.
I'm with @Stargazer on this; what Wiles did wasn't a technical rule breach (or can be argued). The actions really breach the spirit of the rules, though, and is an astonishingly poor look for someone who lectures the country on following rules . The advert from the Herald yesterday is below - it's pretty clear about the intent (stay home), more than the technicality.
What surprises me more than anything is the lack of apology or remorse. People can see it's a bad look, and sails very very close to the wind ... but the 'nothing to see here move along' will get more backs up than 'I had bad judgement, and bent the rules, and should have done more'. It's more sensitive when people (David Clarke, looking at you) have form in this area. It's very very easy to look like you think you're above the rules; rules for thee, but not for me.
So, yes, it's hypocritical, and yes it's a bad look, but it's not technically a 'breach'. Her friend, on the other hand, should really know better

It’s what gets me about this situation, peoples empathy seems to have gone missing.
Someone on Twitter (seemed to be friendly with Red Beard) proclaimed they were happy for the borders to stay closed for years because, and I quote, "I did all my travelling in my 20s" so they didn't see the need to travel again.
Small-minded, self-absorbed fuckwit.

@nzzp She was laughing about, all adds to the ill feeling about it all.
in scandals, it's the coverup that gets you. Here, it's the lack of remorse I suspect. But it's another point where a few people will look at what happened, and how it gets reported, and scratch their heads. Feeds the narrative of a compliant, acquiescent media, whether that's real or not.
Separately, there's some high quality prepping going on; news articles suddnely in the last couple of days about un-linked cases, and now 'experts' holding forth on another week for Auckland at L4. I'll be astonished if the result this afternoon is anything but L4 for another week (and happy to be proved wrong on the bright side)

You could have just said 'on Twitter'

Another data point about how poor a politician Judith Collins is too. She had a slam dunk here and decided to add "fat" to her insult, instantly changed the story.

I wouldn't call it a slam dunk -- but yes, just stupid again. She has a phenomenal back story, but can't seem to get any traction with anyone but a few die hard Team Blue supporters. The Nats are having a major identity crisis, and she is not helping. God help us if they go back to Bridges - to go full circle in a year, at the cost of losing all the experience and the liberal wing of the caucus would be astonishing.

I offer a much more friendly and open-minded Twitter account. Maybe with a little too much angst about Wellington buses, mind you.

Looking forward to two more years in lockdown? Great "transparency" from this mob.
Kirwan, this piece is from May 2020 despite what the loony on Twitter may suggest.

@smudge goddammit, thats what happens when I go through Twitter before my morning coffee
I'm trying to find proof but it's taking me a while. It has been debunked though. I certainly don't believe in the 1pm podium presentations being the single source of truth but this kind of misinformation being spread by ne'er-do-well types is no good for anyone.
By ne'er-do-well types, I don't mean you...
