Just watching the Post Match show.. First time ive seen and man it's rubbish.. I cant believe they show this crap

Yep - back in NZ for a couple of weeks, first rugby I watch on NZ TV - has that tripe as the post-match analysis. W.T.F?
A drunk (drugged?) actor trying to make as many jokes as possible, with occasional "guy down the pub" 'analysis'. I never thought I could dislike "Munta" - but he managed it.

The Rugby Report Card is pretty good. Much better than the regular Green and Gold podcast.

    Mark Robinson on The Breakdown.

He really is unimpressive. He just stammers out corporate cliches.

@kiwimurph Both Robinson and Plumtree didn't actually answer the questions that Chelsea Alley asked. I would have been interested to hear what Plumtree thought of SA's tactics.

Chelsea Alley is a fantastic addition to their panel.

I watched this last night hoping to get some insight from the RC games. Apart from the interview with Havili this show really is a wasted opportunity. Tui is a big step down from Alley on the panel and Mils isn't the most natural in front of the camera.

I didn’t watch the normal show but Tui’s interview with Alan Bunting on the Playmakers special has some really interesting stuff about leadership and coaching. Much better than the usual cliches and she drew out some very good insights.
    Worth a watch.

@bovidae @Crucial the fact that this show doesn't get a mention on this rugby mad sports site tells you all you need to know about the content. It's superficial fluff, not really worth tuning in for unless there's something in particular.

@nzzp I agree, and I might only tune in during the international season. The main thing this week was Wilson's interview with Beaumont. Everything ends up on YT anyway so you can easily FF to interesting parts of the show.

Hence the reason I only pick and choose content to watch.
The show is a massive embarrassment of old boys talking cliches. We have some of the best rugby brains in the world to tap into for analysis and comment but for some reason Sky think we need to hear old player’s opinions instead.

Caught a little bit of the show last night and thought that Tui was contributing well and appeared a lot more comfortable.
At times her contributions were so good that Goldie let her go a bit too long and she had to resort to cliches to fill the gap but hopefully they can fix that between them.
I thought she has brought a different perspective to the show compared to the 'old boy retired player - back in my day' thing it can easily fall into. She adds some life to things as well.
    Hope they keep using her.

As it's a Sky TV show I will mention it here.

The latest Playmakers: Rugby Stories is well worth watching as Tony Johnson talks with John Hart and Ian Jones about the historic 1996 tour of SA. There are anecdotes from the midweek and test games and some background about the planning for the tour.

Was really impressed by Chelsea Alley as a speaker at AIMS Games a couple of years ago. Great attitude, and a refreshing degree of individuality - instead of the manufactured polish of some presenters.

Breakdown is ok - but it is not at the level of the Matty Johns show - partly due to covid-19 restrictions. Would love to see a bit more of off the cuff player personalities developed. Angus Ta'avao and Brad Weber could have a future

One thing I can’t stand from the likes of Jeff Wilson and the Breakdown show is this utter dismissal of SR in a RWC year. Sky don’t even have the rights for the RWC (am I right?) and they are pumping it like it’s the be all and end all. We probably know 90% of the players, if not more, who are going if they’re fit.

If you tell the punters the comp doesn’t matter, sooner or later they start to believe you. Look at some of the piss poor crowds.

We know who the next coach is, we know Eddie is in Oz now. Come back to me in July. Too many good old boys drinking the same milk.
