The TAB isn't offering odds on this game, so I wonder if they know something?

Perhaps, although I would imagine if they put out odds early only to find a significantly different team plays, that could negatively impact their own bottom line. I think even if they dont know, they're unlikely to put up odds until a team is named (or if gets named).

@tim the Hurricanes and their players are very quiet on social aswell which is odd. Usually if they are training, they would have posted atleast a couple photos by now.

Surely Moana Pasifika can't catch up three games if this weekend's game is postponed. I wonder how they are going to divvy up points if this eventuates...

It sounds like the game is going ahead even with the COVID cases, which is good to see. Touch wood!

No idea what team we'll run out but will be a fun watch.

@foobanz Any bets on whether someone as obscure as Callum Harkin OBU will be shoveled in their somewhere ( first five or halfback) - seems to have disappeared off the radar somewhere a bit after being on the fringes of the Lions a year or so back. They could be willing to spring him in as a surprise that MP will have done no reconnaissance on.

    @canes4life https://www.rugbypass.com/news/hurricanes-confirm-covid-in-playing-squad-as-tj-perenara-nears-injury-return/

    From above:

Gibbes wouldn’t confirm the reasoning behind Aumua’s withdrawal, but said the Hurricanes are still preparing to face Moana Pasifika in Wellington this weekend.

“Well it could do, I guess, if we don’t have enough people to field a team, but, at the moment, we’re not in the space whatsoever,” Gibbes said when asked if Saturday’s clash against the competition newcomers is in doubt due to his side’s positive Covid cases.

@higgins don't know - is he in the WTG?

It sounds like we were down to bringing in a 18 year old hooker from Manawatu on the bench, so who knows if a few go down in other positions! Be interesting to see the team sheet.

Gibbes said that a few other options for hooker weren't available (no reasons given). Ben Strang (also Manawatu) would surely have been one of those.

Haven’t seen Patefilo since pre season I’d reckon he’d be in the 23 ( subject to Covid of course)

@mikey07 There must be a Fijian winger floating around in Manawatu or Wanganui that could do the job better.

@higgins There’s that one that was with Whanganui 2 years ago before signing with Taranaki now with the Landers.

We have a Flying Fijian in our Pressies team makes us look like we’re walking could give Holland his number.

That's because you are walking. Your memory just thinks you are running.

@higgins he played a pre-season game for the Canes a couple years back and then broke his ankle or something. He’s been there or there abouts for the Lions but hasn’t quite returned to the form that got him on the fringe of the Canes in the first place.

@canes4life I can recall he spent a period training at the Ulster Youth Academy in Belfast about four or five years ago so he must have something going for him.

@higgins oh good on him if that’s the case. I’m pretty sure he’s been around the Lions squad recently though. I wonder if he will pop up in club rugby this year…
