Week 4 Power Rankings:
1. Blues
The Blues move up to first spot after an impressive second half against the Highlanders. A lot of the Blues attack has been centred around Stephen Perofeta who looks to have come of age this year. He is the form playmaker in the competition and he will push for higher honours if he keep this up.
2. Chiefs
The Chiefs managed to escape the Garden city with the big W so they move up in the rankings. A great shift by the Chiefs forwards and some slick finishing by the backs has this side well placed for a tantalising tustle at the Tin this weekend.
3. Crusaders
They drop down in the rankings this week after succumbing to the Chiefs right at the end of the game. No New Zealand team has hit top gear yet this season so there is plenty of opportunity for the Crusaders to hit right back. It didn’t help losing four players to COVID in the lead up to the match but they aren’t the only team having to navigate such a hurdle.
4. Hurricanes
Out of no fault of their own, the Hurricanes slip to 4th place in the rankings after their match against Moana Pasifika was postponed. They will be looking for a big shift against the Chiefs this weekend.
5. Moana Pasifika
Moana Pasifika remain in 5th after the postponement of their match against the Canes.
6. Highlanders
The Highlanders will need to do a hell of a lot of sole searching this week if they are going to turn their season around. 4 losses on the trot and a growing injury toll has really put the microscope on their depth. A win against Moana Pasifika will hopefully kick start their season.

It's a way of gauging who's hot and who's not from week to week.
My rankings take into account recent W/L record, the nature of the win etc. For example this week both the Blues and Chiefs move up 2 places from the week prior, whereas the Crusaders / Hurricanes move down due to losing and inactivity.
I was tempted to move the Chiefs up to no.1 after that impressive win in Chch, but because they were ranked 4th in week 4 and their loss last week was against the Blues, I have kept the Auckland based outfit infront at this stage.
The Chiefs can better them in week 5 if they can back up their performance against the Hurricanes, and the Blues fail to get the job done against the Crusaders.

@bones who are you talking about? Don't tell me you're trying to make a case for the Highlanders, they have lost 4 games so are worthy wooden spooners for now. The only way for them to go up is to start winning. Plus, the Highlanders were everything but competitive in that second half.
The Canes were inactive so have dropped 2 places from the week prior. They are still on a 2 match winning streak so how can they be ranked lower than a team that's lost all their games? Good logic.. plus for teams like Moana Pasifika, I don't like punishing a team for things that are out of their control.
How have you not heard of Power Rankings before? They literally do them for most sporting comps around the world. Christ, even Stuff has them:

Chiefs
Went to Chc and won. It's more than W/L - great tenacity to get up. -
Blues
Played really well agasint Canes and ran out of gas. Played average against Chiefs and burgled it on a missed kick. Shat the bed in the first half, covid disrupted, but just dominated the second to come away with the points. -
Crusaders
Blip due to a loss at home. Still question marks about teh squad and tight 5. -
Canes
Didn't play, but can't rate them above any above them -
Highlanders
Struggling, and struggling to attract quality talent due to NZR's contracting model. -
MP
Haven't played again, but yet to perform in pre-season or otherwise. Arguably shoulnd't be in these rankings due to lack of on-field data
This is very scientific, and takes into account how my morning is, whether the sun is shining, and how ranty Tim has been about Crusaders recently. Also whether teams rate Akira or not. But I tell you, like Covid Modellers, this is 100% accurate and reliable.

@Bones you obviously have never seen the power rankings done in Stuff.
I would also put MP below the Landers but it’s his list and there’s no prizes for last anyway.

This may provide plenty of debate but here is my power rankings after week 3 of action.
1. Crusaders: Played 3, Won: 3 Lost: 0
Not much to say here. The Crusaders have made a perfect start to their season with wins over the Hurricanes, Highlanders and Moana Pasifika. A bit of rustiness crept into their game last week in an error riddled match under the roof, however they still managed to grab the bonus point right at the end of the game to remain at the head of the table.
2. Hurricanes: Played 3, Won: 2 Lost: 1
The Hurricanes will be quietly chuffed after putting away two of their Kiwi rivals in the last two weeks. This young group showed massive ticker to get the job done after facing challenging circumstances on matchday last week. It seems like this side will only get better as combinations grow and some of their more experienced players filter back into the side. A good win against Moana Pasifika will cap off a strong first month for the men from the capital.
3: Blues: Played 2: Won: 1: Lost: 1 Postponed: 1
I'd imagine most Blues fans would have resembled the face of Tom Robinson as Bryn Gatland's kick slowly drifted past the uprights on Saturday afternoon. This Blues outfit has the makings of something special, they just haven't been able to click into gear yet. The Blues will be after a statement victory against the Highlanders this week with the aim of getting some real momentum into their campaign.
4. Chiefs: Played 2: Won: 1 Lost: 1 Postponed: 1
Like the Blues, the Chiefs look to have a squad with the capability to go all the way. They just need to find that ruthless attitude when they find their noses in front. To be fair, they have faced a fairly disrupted start to the year so should only get better after a few more games under their belt. A win over the Crusaders this weekend will give this outfit massive confidence going foward.
5. Moana Pasifika: Played 1: Won: 0: Lost: 1: Postponed: 2
I have MP in 5th position purely because they've had a rough start to the year due to our friend COVID. I thought they were very admirable against the Crusaders in their first Super Rugby outing. The challenge for this side is being able to perform like that every week and to be able to maintain that physical presence as the competition moves forward. Let's see if they can back it up against the Hurricanes this week.
6: Highlanders: Played 3: Won: 0 Lost: 3:
Tony Brown must be left scratching his head after missed opportunities and lack of execution derailed any chance they had in Wellington on Saturday night. A little more patience and accuracy is all that's needed for the Highlanders to turn those opportunities into points. A stiff challenge awaits them on Friday night so they will be doing everything in their power to get the result against the Blues in Auckland.

Yeah, sorry I'm confused. Probably due to the ever changing schedule of games but I can't see where the prescience is.
