Well, after following this thread religiously for 2+ years, my parents are in the air somewhere over Iran and I'm picking them up from Heathrow this afternoon. Haven't seen them in nearly 3yrs, and they're about to meet my 1.5yr old son for the first time.
Plenty of people had it much worse in the pandemic, but it's still been very tough on our little family. A few months ago after the third Christmas apart, and Labour dragging their heels about omicron, I didn't think it was going to happen this year either. My wife and I both have the rest of the month off work, it's going to be bloody good.

That’s wicked man, good on you! That must be an awesome feeling.
I booked tickets home for my boy and I today. We won’t take chance of my wife going, just because.
Have to go in August though (fucking work), so a whole lot of bad shit could fuck it all up.
Its nice to have something to look forward to though.

In the process of booking a vacation back home for Christmas this year.
Haven't been able to make it back for 6 years, need to take the kids so they can see my mum as she is getting on.
Super excited. Looking at houses to book right now.
Hopefully there wont be some sort of restrictions again. -
@taniwharugby I doubt it is that. Not sure if you know Flutracker. It is a MoH site that surveys volunteers from the general public.
Those results are based on the results to questions about whether you had coughs, fever, headache were absent from work, tested for Covid etc. So the repondents have opted in and are more likely than the general population to report illness. Here's the rest of the latest report

The mask requirements at orange seem ridiculously now that they've scrapped the vaccine passes. The places where you're most at risk you don't have to wear a mask, and the safer ones you don't. Is it too much to expect them to actually think things through and realise if you're fine without a mask in a club packed with hundreds of people, then you're probably okay without one when shopping at Harvey Norman or the supermarket?
Or are they trying to say it's to protect the vulnerable people that need to go shopping or to the supermarket?
