OFC are trying to find a way to fuck over NZ football in the WC qualifiers. Oceania should just merge with Asia but that won't happen if Oceania gets a direct qualifier from 2026.

Fulham's nickname is The Whites - well one of them. We don't get any shit for it. We get shit for being 'posh' which some Fulham supporters doubled down on earlier this season by posting a video of them eating a cheeseboard with Port on the train on the way to an away game.

I did read an article a while ago by a Yank who accused Fulham fans of being racist because when he was at the Cottage the terraces were all chanting "Away You Whites"

The All Whites had a 4-0 win over Fiji in their second game of the Oceania WC qualifiers this morning. Chris Wood scored the first 2 goals, but could have a had a hat-trick inside 20 mins (he missed all of these chances). But he did create some history.

So the might of the Solomon’s and then I imagine a drubbing in South America?

Edit: looks like Costa Rica in the Middle East?

On track so far but I did imagine we'd be able to deal with Tahiti better than 1-nil.

Playing the game in the ME is a great advantage for us. Better than playing in front of a rabid South American crowd

Should have won 3-0 or 4-0. Some goal-line clearances, good saves from the GK and a couple of bad misses in front of goal meant that the final score was not a true reflection of the game. The Solomon Islands will pose a totally different threat than Tahiti as they have speed whereas Tahiti relied on being physical, often too physical. But in a one-off game anything can happen.

A 5-0 win to NZ over the Solomon Islands. Much easier than I expected. NZ's height caused the SI problems all night from corners and balls into the box.

We'll find out who NZ plays later in the play-off today, but likely Costa Rica.

This is sad. He was one of my favourite players in that '82 team along with Woodin and Rufer. He was tough and fearless

@canefan Thanks for posting that link, it brings back great memories and shows Grant Turner in a much different light to what I generally thought.

Obviously a very different man off the pitch. Because he was a tough uncompromising bastard on it

Sarpreet Singh and Ryan Thomas are both injured. Marco Rojas and Michael Boxall return.

I've just been watching a replay of this mornings NZ-Peru game played in front of 32,000 Peruvian fans in Barcelona. As this is the main warmup game before the WC playoff game against Costa Rica, the interest was to see what formation Hay used and who started. He went with a 3-5-2 formation. Peru dominated possession in the game but didn't create too many chance so NZ would have been reasonably pleased with their defending. NZ did have some luck with the crossbar and upright saving them but Peru needed a mistake from Sail to score their only goal. On the flip side, NZ didn't create much on attack except the shot from Greive which was straight at the GK, and a late goal disallowed for offside. No corners until the last minute of the game as I think set pieces might be the best chance of goals.

A behind closed doors game against Oman to be played later in the week.

There is actually another trans- Ta$man game tonight from Brisbane. Unfortunately NZ doesn't have a World Cup to look forward to, but these clashes aren't very common in recent years. The last time NZ and Australia played was in 2011.

Age old story for the All Whites today. Created some nice opportunities but not enough class in the box to finish them - especially with Wood going off pretty early.

That Cacace is a good player though - can see why he plays Serie A.

Yep, a common story for NZ teams against non-Oceania countries. I only watched the 1st half from Brisbane but thought NZ were the better team and should have taken at least one of those chances. Today was less impressive but good to see 35,000 turn up for Winston Reid's last game for the All Whites.

I like what Hay has done with this team but there needs to be an end-product from the good play.
