Saturday afternoon Ranfurly Shield match between two well performing, and evenly matched, teams. Doesn't get much better. Should be a huge game.

Going to be a lot of MP team mates belting each other in the tackle. 🙂

Really looking forward to this one.

HB always step up when the shield is on the line. This should be a cracker!

HB's game to lose. Massive favourites with their ABs and the much waited return of Retallick. Absolutely no pressure whatsoever on NH....

Obviously their 66.66% winning percentage this season compared to The Bay's infinitely inferior 50% must count for nothing.

Harbour haven't won on the road since October 2020....

False claim to underdog status given North Harbour hardly played at all in 2021

Harbour are definite favourites 😉 , they just beat the mighty Invitational Baabaas Chequebook XV, the premier province in the country, meanwhile the Bay struggled to put away the lowly Poo.

I suspect they're already dusting out the trophy cabinet up in Albany.

A podcast called the Aotearoa rugby pod doesn't discuss the NPC? It's clearly misnamed.

I'm not sure we even have a trophy cabinet...

@Billsy111 Gatland's boot has proven to be a real weapon. Lots of discipline required inside our own half.

@JK Let's get one thing straight North Harbour are a major threat, we all know that. But where Hawkes Bay have the advantage is up front. Harbour have an inexperienced pack, especially at Shield level. The Bay will boosted no end by Brodie Retallick, there's no question about that. To beat this Harbour team, you need to disrupt there lineout, slow there ruck ball down, so players like Gatland, Li, Telea become non effective. Booth at halfback is a threat around the edges if you let him be. Harbour will I think play a hit and run game. They'll speed it up and want quick ball, simply because they can't match the Bay pack if it's a forward slog. For the Bay it's a matter of grinding there pack down, good lineout ball, rolling mauls, and release it when Harbour are back footing. No silly off loads, play the percentage game, and wear there pack down. Do that and the Shield stays. But if Harbour get off to a really quick start, as they have lately against the Bay, and it may be a different story. I'm really hoping the Bay pack show exactly what they can do this weekend

Err thanks mate, really really glad we got that straight......
