@canefan hard! dude does not miss a trick aye. He actually makes entertaining ads which is almost unheard of these days.
He's just a very smart, or very lucky, dude with his Aviation Gin.
He brought into the brand in 2018. He then used his own company, Maximum Effort Marketing, to market the Aviation Gin brand.
In 2020 the brand was brought by Diageo for USD$660M.
Diageo paid USD$335 million upfront with an additional USD$275 million possible payday depending on Aviation's performance over the next 10 years.
RR kept a stake so not only does he still profit from ongoing sales but there's a significant future bonus based on sales.
I believe that part of the deal with Diageo is the ongoing use of Maximum Effort Marketing to promote the brand.
Now that's an astute business man and my biggest man crush, sorry Dan Carter.

I've a bottle in the alcohol cupboard and yes, it's a good Gin.
Not a great example but definitely a very good gin which I enjoy regularly. TBH, brought it being mindful of the hype and therefore kept expectations low and was pleasantly surprised.
Definitely a "modern" gin with other botanicals taking the stage over the traditional juniper.

@RoninWC agree, a solid gin, but some seriously good products out now meaning often you don't need to pay that much for a good one.

I fucking love Ryan Reynolds
I also hate him with a passion because he gets to bang Blake Lively

Recently just got Disney +.because i have enough subscriptions lol. so finally catching up on a variety of marvel TV shows
of the ones I have seen so far, in order that my wife wanted to watch, so not chronological..
Hawkeye - was a solid action series that you would say fits in with movies after the blip. Easy to watch/binge and worth a view.
Falcon and the winter soldier - repeat of the above, another enjoyable and watchable series that could easily link back into a movie somewhereSheHulk - some good comedy lines, however storyline and characters a bit woke, but will still watched primarily to see if any revelations, not my favourite series so far. Terrible CGI early, although I could tell when Weta took over and was also confirmed from a friend who works there.
Loki - a little bit more out there (interdimensional time lines etc) , still have a couple of episodes to go, so will reserve judgment until final episode to see how it loops back and/or concludes
Moonknight to be watched after Loki

there is a series of comics and now podcasts (listening currently) set in the "logan" universe/timeline, originally called "old man...." but now call "wastelanders"....basically the bad guys won and killed most of the heros, and we follow the few that survived trying to make a difference in a world that hates them..
Mickey Rourke (but this time as hero), Lindsay Lohan, Kevin Spacey, Bill Cosby, Rolf Harris, Mel Gibson, Kirsten Stewart...
-
@nostrildamus wow...thats a bit of a random take on a post for 6 months ago

So that bit in Welcome to Wrexham where he is stressed about each year they don't get promoted to L2 costing them 1M quid isn't as huge as it would appear then....
-
how much of it did he own? not 100% surely...
quick google says he's worth $150M. $2.5M to buy it...so yeah...he's not going to be on the bread line any time soon

I wonder how much they got for the show. He seems like a smart guy who can trade off his fame. Got Tik Tok and Expedia on board as sponsors for starters

@canefan i think they said something about having to make the doco to make some money so theyre pretty transparent
Its interesting with all the cash they're still not out of the conference
they have sparked a lot of debate though, my club wimbledon is struggling and a lot are wondering if its time to drop the fan owned model as its just too hard
