I first got involved following sydney league ( it was all in sydney then ) back when Parra were a powerhouse ,

Even though I was a Manly supporter , I loved watching that Parra side full of superstars ,

Price , Sterling , Kenny , Steve Ella , Mick Cronin , Eric Grothe , it was an exciting team to watch

its been so long for them , and as well as being underdogs , Im going for Parra but expect Penrith to win

Just watched Todd Paytens winner speech at the Dally Ms. Wow, what an inspirational speaker and it all seemed genuine and natural. Why did the Warriors let him go?

Did anyone else watch the Grand Final preview on Fox with Matty Johns? I swear Gordon Tallis was half cut. Speech was slowed and slurred and he was slow to react to stuff.

One thing I do like about the NRL GF compared to the AFL one ,

the diehard fans who follow their team through thick and thin have a much better chance of attending if their team gets through ,

Their tickets are far more accessible to the real fans , the AFL one gets hijacked by Corporate groups , tickets are like gold

I agree the NRL GF seems more accessible for the fans of the competing teams however a considerable chunk of AFL GF tickets go to fans of the game. What the AFL does well is reward those that are loyal through the season (ie pay for memberships whether club, AFL or MCC)

Here’s the 2022 AFL GF spread

    1. Competing club members 16K-40K
    2. AFL clubs - 0-7K
    3. MCC reserve - 16K-26K
    4. AFL members - 13K-18K
    5. AFL / Medallion Club members - 3K-5K
    6. AFL entitlement / contractual obligations - 5K-30K
    7. Competing clubs - 0-5K

Given the atmosphere and what it looked like on the day, plenty of Geelong fans there!

Yeah it’s a certain amount of tickets to each club for their members , and most clubs have a limited amount of memberships that guarantee you gf tickets should the team make it .

I had one in 2017 , I think there was 15-20,000 of us , there are other tickets out there you can get , but they are usually high end ones that includes a meal, drinks etc , quite expensive, a couple of grand , a lot of supporters just bite the bullet and pay it if it’s the only way they get to go .

I’ve gone to nrl gfs when storm have made it and just brought a ticket through ticketek the week of the game , was a breeze .

That’s because Sydney based NRL fans hate the Storm, so don’t want to go 😉
