I don't know who this ref is, but his decisions are mystifying, to be polite about it.

Lot of Japan's ruck turnover penalties clearly on the body in the first half.

Japan also creating space behind the ruck in their own ball via borderline illegal cleanouts past the ball

Not just Japan. The ref isn't interested in people cleaning out from an onside position.

@cgrant 34-22 to Aus at FT.

Pretty enjoyable game in the end. Seemed to flow a little more than a full blown test might have.

I think because guys were expressing themselves a bit more than test Rugby. First half a bit ordinary but fuck me there were some nice moves and good play by both teams to score tries.

Agreed. Both teams wanted to use the ball and scored some cracking tries. The crowd would've been entertained.

@NTA reckon another ref wouldve pinged both sides a lot more at ruck time too. Was pretty messy in that regard.

Beautiful drawing of the player and timing/accuracy of the pass on those first couple of Japan tries.

I turned the volume down after about 5 minutes because it was coming across as a second rate production (the sound and quality that is), so I don’t know what the comms were saying about the ref, but my reaction was that there was less whistle in this one which I think made it a little more enjoyable to watch.
