I've said it here before but B Sullivan gives me massive C Smith vibes. Similar build and a slick pass. That pass to Ardie against the Blues to win was a beaut.

Not as defensively sound as Smith (who is?) but on attack a lot to like.

I hope you're right. He initially kept his position after Proctor returned but after watching him in games after this one he was a bit up and down. I'm surprised just how young Proctor still is (14/5/1999) so haven't written him off yet. His attack has been a lot better in recent NPC game and his defense has always been good. Another center options is PUJ of course but seems better suited to 2nd 5. As does the young Higgins but maybe he could also play center

Higgins is the one who I think has the most potential although he may lack the speed to play center. So we could end up with three quality 2nd 5 options (including Barrett) and two competing for center. Although Patafilo looks like he could be a good enough center at super rugby level if required

Lots of option but we need at least 1 to step up and grab this spot playing outside Barrett

Can be very hot and cold still though. He has dished up some shocking games at different levels. Hopefully it is all ironing out the wrinkles and he is learning lots because he does have something about him.
His brother needs to get away from the Blues logjam as well but The Highlanders would be his only realistic prospect to get lots of time.
One day we could see them together but the planets don't seem to align that well.

If Barrett plays 2nd 5 Sullivan's brother would surely be an option for the starting FB at the Canes. Zarn seems to be a level above his older brother and from the little Ive seen of him better than Love and Moorby.

I doubt he would look to go into a three way battle though and possibly thinks he can learn more being around BB and Perofeta.
I would really like him to find somewhere to get time at 10 though. He is one of those players that have time on the ball and an accurate, as well as strong, boot.

The fact Beauden will probably gap it after the World Cup means there will be an opportunity at 10 for Zarn to slot into. Wouldn't hurt spending one more year learning under Beaudy.

On the other hand if he made a shift to the Canes he will not only link up with his brother but also a player who he developed a rather handy combination with at Kings College, in Aiden Morgan, when they won the Auckland schools title.

Not sure why people keep mentioning Zarn in non Blues threads. He signed a 3 year deal late last year. He's free to move in 2025

Because he's a class player and isn't getting enough play? I want to watch him develop.

Ok thanks. unsure why his name first came up. And with Barrett likely to head off after next year he has an opportunity at the Blues to get a starting spot anyway

@Duluth Players being released early is not foreign to Super Rugby anymore, especially if they want to move to another NZ franchise. Josh Ioane being a good example.

Hopefully this ends up being true for old mate Prinsep.

And the Chiefs did that for Bailyn.

The Blues did it for Narawa who was barely seen in a Blues jersey. However they denied an early release for Nock as he was considered too important for the squad.

@Duluth It will be on a case-by-case basis and more likely to happen if the player has only 1 year left on their contract. The Chiefs let Laulala go to the Blues as well. That meant Mafileo went in the other direction.

    @Bovidae

Strangely, Nock had one year left when he was denied, then he re-signed with the Blues recently

@Duluth Maybe he didn't get any decent offers? He has been pretty dreadful this year. I'm surprised the Blues signed him.

More importantly, the team releasing a player needs to have a ready replacement lined up if they are in the likely 23.

@Tim Same, thought we'd move on from him and invest more time in Funaki.

Sorry Canes fans, not trying to take over the thread with Blues stuff haha.

Has he played at all this NPC? He was captain last year and a regular starter. This year he's neither and the team is doing so much better.

TBH I prefer him to Blackwell. But at NPC level I'm pleased Wellington have Blackwell. His combination with Bird is good enough at this level. As long as some stars are in other positions in the forwards. And there are no big weaknesses

@Winger Prinsep has been injured since the final stages of SR and only returned to play NPC, last weekend.

Now now. It's not his fault that's he's picked each week. And he always gives his best
