    England rollicking along.

Fascinating call though - Dar gave English batsman out on the field - but the bat hit the ground a tthe same time the ball hit the pad. He was really not convinced - asked the TMO to go back and check again.

Genuinely ambiguous - but if given out on the field, how do you overturn?

Abrar gets the first 5 wickets on the first day of his first ever test match.

England going at 5.5 rpo with 167 in the first session

I just grabbed some popcorn to watch two spinners at work. It's a cliche. I'm a cliche. Don't judge.

Abrar gets his 6th by dismissing Stokes.

RR still over 5 and Jacks looks set.

nothing competes with a 4th innings chase in world sport.

England need 5 wickets, Pakistan 80 runs. It looks to have tilted Pakistan's way ... but test cricket is a nightmare. Two quick wickets and it's over.

    Engrossing chase here

Yeah agreed, a good fourth innings is the pinnacle.

Always interesting when the 4th innings total is the biggest in the game (Pakistan having just gone past England's total in the first innings). Makes you think that they probably both left a few runs in their first digs. I wonder who will regret it more.

wow! The set batsmen gets given on TMO after a feathered catch to the keeper that really bobbled. Tough call on the batter - england right in the box seat now. Would take a miracle, or some good T20 shots ...

    Good game! Well done England.

Pakistan will look at the TMO decision on Shakeel as the difference.

Fun stuff to watch, England brought it; Pakistan were so nearly good enough.

Another exciting test match. Another valiant chase by Pakistan but the England quicks got it done.

2-0 in Pakistan is no small feat.

before this series they had won two tests in Pakistan.

yep, can't argue with the results, ENgland are on a roll, and 3-0 in Pakistan is huge

but holy shit the fawning over "bazball" is fucking nauseating

you would think no one had played test cricket positively before. It's like everyone has forgotten the Australians even exist.

@mariner4life yeah, the English media has waited a long time for a half decent test team, so that fawning won't end any time soon. Baz is the perfect coach for them - a great one day side that didn't know how to play test cricket. They had the right strengths for him utilise with his aggressive approach and they've taken to the gameplan like ducks to water.

Be interesting to see how that style goes against the Aussies though, not quite so easy to play "positive" cricket against their bowling lineup.

Its the Australian blueprint the English are using,Australia have played that way for years,The English have just ramped it up a bit.

My pick it could be a disaster v Australia,The line and length they bowl will make it very hard to play Bazball.
You have to be patient and aggressive when you get an opportunity against them, the Poms might have reign it back a bit to succeed.
    It will a fascinating watch.

Just repeating some of my other post for an opinion how the Poms will go v Aussie.

I'm going to disagree on this part.

It's looking like a real potential 'step-change' to me.

This is different from Steve Waugh taking the potentially best ever team in 120 years from allcomers and getting them going 25% more aggressive with the bat than the norm.

Looks to me like England have taken their biggest weakness and turned it into a strength. Their batting was appalling, worst ever in their 140 year history. Their top 3 was mid-1990s Blackcaps level.

It won't work everywhere v everyone, though.

Maybe it's just a fun gap-plugger for a few years until their county system produces some top 3 batters again. Maybe it's a more than that. It's early. It didn't 'work' v South Africa at home, because SAF have an ace attack, but I also think England with the useless top 3 would have struggled v SAF if playing normally.

I kind of hope it fails, though. Just because I don't like batting dominated cricket. but if it motivates boards not to produce home roads (if more teams take this approach) then I'm all for it.
