@MN5 I knew I was being contentious with lyrics like

Just say the word...Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. The song, In Too Deep, is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight, Land of Confusion, and Against All Odds. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

Walking in Memphis - Mark Cohn
Breakfast at Tiffany's - Deep Blue Something
Closing Time - Semisonic -
@MN5 I haven't nominated any songs that I think are bad songs. You could never confine that to 10. Even Afternoon Delight works as a piece of pop fluff. Good arrangement, harmonies, but definitely not my thing.
I have chosen songs I never care to hear again. Usually because they have been done to death. There's a lot of stuff that fits into that category which is why I don't listen to much music radio.
I heard Collins and Queen on the radio over the weekend which prompted my post.

Sounds like someone was all too familiar with the lights coming on at the student pubs in Hamilton at 3am and not having a female within groping distance. Don't hate the song - hate your lack of game.

Do you hate Easy (Faith No More version) as well? I can't remember which one of those two songs was the original last song.

I don't hate Closing Time because i heard it too much (i don't remember it even being a hospo staple) i hate it because, as a song, it is a steaming pile of dogshit

@mariner4life Yeah that fits my very rough memory - or was Easy when the Outback was the relatively small club in the early days and then closing time when it expanded to the two sides. But

No for saying you hated FNM.

Fuck, I nearly got cancelled for not saying I hate something.
FYI - I love FNM. In 1993 on a rugby tour in Oz I bought 5 different FNM t-shirts and a hoodie at Paddy's Market.

It’s the age we live in pal. Get cancelled first and ask questions later.
