@Machpants IIRC, it's a bit like SBW and a Counties preseason game after his red card against the B&I Lions? Normally, SBW would never have played that game, but I think it counted towards his suspension? I don't agree with it, btw, but if the system allows it ... SANZAAR made sure it wasn't possible during SR years ago, but that's only SR (and maybe TRC).

Totally we've done it, I think Dane Cole got a game of three halves included. As I said, good gaming of the system

RFU intervenes to let Borthwick pick Farrell in England Six Nations squad

The RFU has intervened to let Steve Borthwick pick the suspended Owen Farrell in his Six Nations squad without jeopardising his Calcutta Cup availability

Just out of interest did anyone else watch the game, I sure I heard the ref ask if the Farrell incident had happened in last phase when TMO pointed it out. Has there been a change in how far back they can go for foul play?

@Machpants if he played all 3 halves, would that count as 1 and a half games of his ban 🤔

I've seen the hit, but not the game. The article I read was that it wasn't anything but a communication breakdown between ref and TMO which meant it wasn't looked at, rather than any rules change or whatever

It came across as a bit of a howler from the referee, Karl Dickson. He’s had a couple of high profile balls ups recently.

Ruiradh McConnochie is called up to the Scotland 6N squad three years after winning the last of his England caps.

I know it’s the rules and I don’t blame the guy, or Townsend for picking him but to me it devalues international sport.

Jeez does this guy still get a gig ? What’s he there for, to make north look good again ?

I’m fine with it. Getting his international training wheels before switching to a decent team for a real go at test Rugby. Long may it continue.

Now you mention it, that makes sense. I can see Finn Russell getting 30 odd caps for Italy

Shit yeah, he’d be great. Italian flair over Scottish conservatism all the way !

But in all seriousness I agree, musical chairs is not good for international sport. Throw your hat in with one country and take your chances I say.

Sean Maitland who just got recalled can be excused cos Tokoroa don’t have test status.

    Joke

    Along with others

    Calling it early

We beat Italy because it's deeper in to the tournament and we have better depth

We may beat Scotland, just because Scotland

Hammered by Ireland, England and France

Wales throw open doors to Netflix cameras
Wales are ready to show their fans never-seen-before dressing room footage as Netflix cameras explore their every move during the Six Nations.

The subscription streaming giants will produce a special fly-on-the-wall documentary of the tournament, following each of the six teams behind the scenes. The hope is to increase rugby popularity throughout the world and Warren Gatland says Wales will release the shackles as part of the project.

"Yeah, we are going to be incredibly supportive of it," said Gatland, who accepted the footage will come with its challenges. "You love the ability to do coaching behind closed doors. That’s what you get excited about. The hardest thing about coaching is doing this. That’s the most challenging thing – doing the press and having cameras in your face on a continuous basis. But it's the way things have gone and we’ve got to try and be supportive, try to grow the game. If that creates new fans and new interest in the game of rugby, then I can only see that as a positive."

Was a clip on TV1 sport tonight for the 6N launch and on one side you had Sexton saying the waist height tackle rule was stupid, as was Andy Farrell, and on the other side, Owen Farrell saying it was a good move...

Sexton having had numerous head knocks
Farrell having hit his shoulder to numerous heads
