50 Years of Star Trek - RIP

I assume that The Orville has been discussed in the thread already (maybe even by me), I'm watching S2 and will move on to S3. As I don't have Paramount this is the closest to Star Trek I can get and it feels the closest to original Star Trek I've seen, especially as it's mostly stopped being a comedy. What do others think of it?
I haven't seen Strange New Worlds yet though which is apparently(?) the closest to the original of the actual Star Trek brand shows/movies.

@dogmeat i kind of felt the orville started as the parody of the Star Trek the next generation...then it tried to take up the mantle of what star trek use to be
but the cheap 90's sets and uniforms worked as a parody...but looked cheap and old school when it was trying to be its own thing

@Kiwiwomble
It was the parody aspect I struggled with.That and being captained by Peter Griffin

Apparently the parody aspect was the only way McFarlane could get it funded initially. But he had always wanted to do a non parody version.
@Kiwiwomble I've never had a problem with the sets or costumes TBH, I hope you haven't ruined the rest of the series for me now.

Orville second season was pretty good. 3rd season was not very good, but with a couple of good episodes.
