    have only been keeping a passing eye on things so far this year . florence for me not as effective as he had been and lasaqa been industrious but might lack the physical presence to step up . but as i say i have watched to closely

    @ploughboy Yeah, Lasaqa isn't the biggest no.7. He is probably similar to Kirifi in height. Great over the ball though.

    Ideally, you'd want someone with more size which is why I favour Florence. M Jacobson seems to be out of favour. There are heaps of 6/8s in the region but not so many true opensides.

    I wonder if the latter will be involved in 2024 or just being asked for input on the props?

    Mitsubishi Sagamihara Dynaboars announced a while ago that Hoeft had left the club, so he might be available.

    @Canes4life It looks like Roigard is staying at the Canes and not moving to the Chiefs.

    Nah George has a dead set sauce that trumps reality

    Roigard could still have been having discussions with the Chiefs but not signed any contract.

    @Bovidae
    Of course contract discussions break down all the time,people change their mind at the last minute ,
    That happened with Ofa T he was pretty much certain to go to the Crusaders at at the last minute pulled out.

    Both 2-year extensions.

    Announcements for replacements for Retallick and Sowakula will be of more interest.

    There are plenty of other players who were off-contract this year too, many likely starters.

    @Bovidae What do you reckon? Has Thompson already surpassed Slater or not? I don't think Thompson will be happy to stay no. 3 in the hooker pecking order for much longer.

    @Stargazer I would hope so but I'm not the coach. I've never seen any contract info for either Thompson or Slater so I've no idea whether they are signed or not.

    Stevenson is definitely off-contract, and based on previous media releases so are Jacobson, Ah Kuoi, Boshier, Tupaea and ENS.

    @Bovidae That wasn't my question. Who do you think is the second and who is the third hooker at the Chiefs out of Thompson and Slater?

    I answered that question in my first sentence. Thompson is 2 and Slater is 3. That's how it ended up in the playoffs but McMillan has often rotated them during the season.

    @Bovidae

    Tupaea completes the Gallagher Chiefs midfield alongside fellow All Black Anton Lienert-Brown, Rameka Poihipi, Gideon Wrampling and rookie Daniel Rona.

    Midfield is complete.

    ALB might be close to not even starting for the Chiefs.
