It would be great if South Africa would put as much effort into lowering the number of murders and rapes in their own country as they do into presenting to the ICJ about perceived genocides.
And before you comment @Winger, Iâm not suggesting that they canât petition the ICJ if they want to. Just that their energies would be appreciated by their own people even more!

perceived genocides
The authors of the Old Testament (& Hebrew bible) have a lot to answer for. (The fictional? character) Jesus was right me thinks
âYou belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your fatherâs desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.â John 8:44
And don't forget these people (who are guided by this dangerous nonsense) also control the West now. If collectively we don't make a stand, then what next? WW3 where we are all at risk. Or more silly reasons (like saving the planet) to remove our rights etc.

What does the Gospel of John have to do with what guides the Jewish state?
Or do you mean the Islamists who are guided by dangerous nonsense?

@Winger Pro-Palestine supporters would be on firmer ground levelling a charge of ethnic cleansing, rather than genocide. Especially if one listens to ultra-conservative Zionists. if we are being objective.
"While ethnic cleansing and genocide may share the same goal and the acts which are used to perpetrate both crimes may often resemble each other, ethnic cleansing is intended to displace a persecuted population from a given territory, while genocide is intended to destroy a group."
Look at the population of Gaza. It isn't going down!!

he's accusing the Jews of being murderers using Jesus' words to do it. I am struggling to read this as anything other than antisemitism - tarring all Jews with this label.

I'll ask again.
What has the GOSPEL of John got to do with what the JEWS believe?
And also, are their enemy guided by any sort of similar nonsense? Or are they completely secular and atheistic?

"His recent biblical reference has long been used by the Israeli far right to justify killing Palestinians."
No, it's been used to justify killing Palestinians who want to kill people for being Jews. Lets' remind ourselves the only party in this conflict who want to kill every single member of a race - Jews - wherever they may be, is Hamas.
Swap "Israeli Far right" and "Palestinians" for "WWII Allies" and "Nazis" respectively and you'll understand what nonsense the writer is propounding

Except their latest charter states otherwise. As you well know.

The "Zionist project" (paragraphs 14 to 17) is described as a "racist, aggressive, colonial and expansionist project based on seizing the properties of others" that is hostile to the Palestinian people and their aspirations for freedom, return and self-determination.[16] This project, the document says, not only poses a threat to the Palestinians, but also threatens the "security and interests" of the entire Arab and Islamic Ummah.[16] The document goes on to state that the conflict revolves solely around this project and that there is no religiously based conflict with Jews.[2][6] It states that "Hamas rejects the persecution of any human being or the undermining of his or her rights on nationalist, religious or sectarian grounds. Hamas is of the view that the Jewish problem, anti-Semitism and the persecution of the Jews are phenomena fundamentally linked to European history and not to the history of the Arabs and the Muslims or to their heritage."[3][17]

and regarding your race comment. Here's various viewpoints on this. I like this definition but certainly not an expert.https://jewishunpacked.com/are-jews-a-race-or-religion/
Similarly, in a Times of Israel blog post, Rabbi David Wolpe of Sinai Temple in Los Angeles, wrote that Jews are not really a race or nationality because âthere are Jews of every skin color and from all corners of the world.â And they are not a religion because âone isnât born into a religion.â (According to traditional Jewish law, those who have a Jewish mother are Jewish.)
Wolpe concluded that âJews are a religious family. You can join family. You donât leave your family by disliking it or disagreeing with it, but you can leave it by joining another family. That is historically how Judaism has worked.â

Not Jews. Zionists. whether claiming to be Christian or Jew. Or no religion whatsoever
For example, people who believe the Hebrew bible (a made-up story with a jealous, horrible God) gives Jews a right to take land and kill the Palestinian's as they are the descendants of Amalek. Pure madness but that is what many believe it seems. Including the current leader of Israel.

And the Islamists whose beliefs are also rooted in the same "jealous, horrible God", but with a nasty, horrific Prophet?

Zionists - people who believe in a homeland for Jews; the State of Israel.
It doesn't take a genius to work out what the Hamas definition of Palestine as an 'Arab Islamic land' extending 'from the River Jordan in the east to the Mediterranean in the west and from Ras Al-Naqurah in the north to Umm Al-Rashrash in the south' means for "Zionism".

@Winger said in Israel, Iran, Syria, and the rest of the ... Middle East:
âone isnât born into a religion.â
Isn't the UK royalty born Anglican/Church of England? If not can I be the head of the Church of England?
I think the question is problematic, religion isn't usually defined as what it isn't, it is very hard to define precisely.
Nor does race have to mean skin colour (and we probably need a new word for race, biologists don't think it is a thing, and it is also hard to define).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Hamas_charter/2Oh look, you posted a deal link.......but here's a real live one for you -->link
"In a Friday, April 7, 2023 sermon in Rafah, Gaza, Hamas official Sheikh Dr. Hamad Al-Regeb prayed for Allah to bring annihilation and paralysis upon the Jews and to "enable" the Muslims to "get to" the Jewsâ necks. He said that the Jews are "filthy animals" and "brothers of apes and pigs" who spread corruption, injustice, and evil at the Al-Aqsa Mosque."
So Hamas really don't want to kill Jews for being Jews, they just want Allah to do it for them.

An official. Not the charter
And Israel. Their big Chief wants to use his bible to justify a genocide. And is following through with actions to achieve this. With weapons supplied by the West.
And just to be clear I'm no supporter of Hamas. My view is the leaders (of Israel and Hamas) now all belong to the same force. A force that thrives on death, destruction and hate. They have both embraced the dark side.
Here's a little about Rafah.
Rafah (Arabic: ŘąŮŘ RafaḼ [rafaħ]; Hebrew: רָפִ××Öˇ RafiaḼ [ĘaËfi.aĎ]) is a Palestinian city in the southern Gaza Strip; it is the capital of the Rafah Governorate of the State of Palestine, located 30 kilometers (19 mi) south-west of Gaza City. In 2017, Rafah had a population of 171,889.[2] As a result of massive bombardment and ground assaults in Gaza City and Khan Yunis by Israel, about 1 million people are believed to be sheltering in Rafah.[3]
When Israel withdrew from the Sinai in 1982, Rafah was split into a Gazan part and an Egyptian part, dividing families, separated by barbed-wire barriers.[4][5] The core of the city was destroyed by Israel[6][7][8] and Egypt[9][10] to create a large buffer zone.
Rafah is the site of the Rafah Border Crossing, the sole crossing point between Egypt and the State of Palestine. Gaza's only airport, Yasser Arafat International Airport, was located just south of the city. The airport operated from 1998 to 2001, until it was bombed and bulldozed by the Israeli military (IDF) after the killing of Israeli soldiers by members of Hamas.
