    Oppenheimer review.

Blokes talking on a movie built for Academy voters. Very well made film, strong script, well shot. Interesting, but not one I'd go to rewatch and would be very careful of recommending - need the right headspace to get into it.

I'd add Oppenheimer is also geared towards people with attention span of greater than five minutes.

The raindrops to nuclear armageddon transition was pure, visual cinema. It even reminded Robert Downey how to act instead of mug.

I'll rewatch it at home, because I suspect the impact without the wall of sound and large screen will be greatly reduced. Definitely one to watch in a cinema.

Mrs Womble is away for work so im re watching the Hobbit movies whilst washing rugby jerseys

hadn;t watched them since the cinema, obviously not LotR...but better than i remember, i think the biggest critic still stand...could have been an AWESOME two movies.....rather than a drawn out three movies....dont get me wrong....you get the feeling theyre on an epic journey....but i think 2001 Peter Jackson would have cut more stuff

Oh man they were so bad, I have watched the fan super cut of one long movie which was OK. But I am a total nerd, have watched LotR dozens of times, read the books many dozens along with the History and other books. But never got past half way through second movie, only the second movie for 20 years I haven't finished (along with Wonderwoman)

lots of people would describe the same way....i even had a presence on a LotR forum for a number of years 😬 obviously not an accurate reflection of the book as so much was added from other sources or just made up...and originally had a very similar reaction to watching them in the cinema (only film i can remember not finishing was the expendables)...but finding them much more watchable than i expected

@Kiwiwomble Yeah it wasn't the lore, but things like the CGI scenes when this bumbling group of dwarves are escaping capture by running along the narrow bridges, and goblins are literally flying off like a bow wave

@Machpants fair enough, its obviously noticeable but suspend belief for these films anyway so easy to just move past

my only real grib is the pacing...LotR has 3-4 stories at different times after the fellowship broke up...and that worked for 3 films...but following the same group with only gandalf off on little adventures...just makes it drag a bit....would love to see a sydner cut from peter jacks down to two movies...you could carve out the escape form the goblins...and the barrels easily as both are quite long scenes...and Beorn

Unfortunately it wasn’t released in time to beat Oppenheimer at the Academy Awards……but I’m picking this one to scoop everything in 2025…..

ok....im going to amend my review now that i have finished the 3....

first one was better than i remembered...enjoyable if a little drawn out.

second one was also drawn out....but that was the first time i REALLY felt the CGI fell over, the liquid gold is laughably bad...given how long it was, once they saw they couldnt do that...surely you just cut that scene

third one (and the reason i rewatched as i had little to no recollection)....is a bit of a mess...the battle of the five armies could have been great but they over complicate things that were already complicated...eagles save the day again.....why is that castle all ice?...there was no ice/snow anywhere else near by....the actual armies standing off is good...and then they move to this obvious set covered in random ice...everyone else just sorted things out i guess?

@MN5 Attack the Block but with ageing wrestlers?

    Are they all actual wrestlers?

Loads of Goblins get sliced, diced and fall to their deaths but not one dwarf does.

That whole scene is the very definition of “Plot Armour”

Jesus Christ Neps, didn’t they have TVs in the Bay in the 80s and 90s ?

That’s Haku/Meng. You’d better not forget his name or he’ll bite your nose off. ( true story )

He was the one who I knew was definitely a wrestler. Probably because he's a poly. 😉

Google some stories on him. Some are absolutely amazing.

Killers of the flower moon. Was soooo slow moving to start that I almost gave up. But picked up pace and was pretty good. Both de Niro and Di caprio are excellent. It’s a looong film.

I don't know if I've watched this, or if I've just seen the ads for it.

Monkey Man: An Indian set (but Thailand filmed) John Wick style movie crossed with a boring movie. This was weird, the action set pieces are more Indonesian style (think The Raid/The Night Comes for Us) than Hong Kong/Hollywood and most of them were really good - but there's a whole background story that is filmed arty as fuck and just drags.

Stars Dev Patel from Skins and Slumdog Millionaire.

I thought Hulk Hogan was the epitome of wrestling comedic movie talent but Cena has taken it to another level again
