Boy in Striped Pyjama's

Pretty good film about a family that are forced to move due to father's involvement in the Nazi's as he has been promoted and is to run a camp.

Ending is predictable, but the how was a little different to what I expected.

Ironman 2. I thought the 1st one was great but this one seemed to drag a little in the middle. I have no idea about the comics but the Hammer character was starting to drive me batty. The Wrestler dude played a choice baddy. The missus hated it but really enjoyed the first. It's not a must see (imo) but good enjoyment value if it's a wet afternoon.

Taniwha: you could read the book? I haven't seen the movie as yet so don't know how much it differs. Is it out on DVD yet?

Watched the Book of Eli the other day and really enjoyed it. It's a post-apocalyptic starring Denzel Washington who is carrying the last bible. I loved it but I'm pretty keen on the post-apocalyptic movies. It also stars the dark haired chic from That 70's show. Worth seeing but I don't think you'd miss much if you waited for the DVD. I didn't pick the ending but I hardly ever do.

Green Zone, latest action offering from Matt Damon.

Was disappointed with it, guess it was advertised similarly to the Bourne films (same director and lead) and was pretty slow to start with, got better at the end but was pretty average.
Kick Ass

from the ads I think I was expecting a silly comedy about a kid trying to be a superhero...what you get is quite a bit more

Some funny stuff in it, but also quite violent (ala Tarantino)

I really liked it (even Nick Cage's odd character) 8/10

Have seen the shorts for that, and think I'll go see it - I like his acting, and it looks a little out of the norm for him - more of a Bruce Willis action move type roll.

    The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus.

I am a Terry Gilliam fan so....I loved this movie. Far more his style than The Brothers Grimm was but still restrained enough for most people to not be left scratching their heads.

Heath Ledger is manic and you get the feeling, Oscar win aside, he was destined for greatness. Man love over. This is a weird movie and some people will not get the heavy handed hamming from the entire cast but if you do you'll enjoy it.
Edge of Darkness. Would have been pretty average but Mel Gibson gives it something extra. I did find it hard to understand what they were saying sometimes. A few characters seem to mumble which was pretty frustrating.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, including the Sam Rockwell character (Hammer) and good to see Garry Shandling getting some work, I loved him as the military-industrialist senator. Scarlett was a bit wasted, she looked lovely, but tight-lipped with negligible dialogue most of the time. Rourke also didn't say much, but then again, he doesn't have to, he looks like a perfect villain. Good to see S.H.I.E.L.D. involved, but didn't know that Nick Fury was a black man (Samuel Jackson). He needs more beard, and where's the cigar he's supposed to be chomping?

I thought the final showdown between Downey and Rourke was over too fast, and didn't resolve the subtext between their fathers satisfactorily, but overall 7.5/10.

Nice epilogue at the end of the credits (phew, nine minutes & 3 songs) too ... the big crater in the desert and what looked like Thor's hammer...

It's early days yet, but I gotta say I'm astonished to see the preliminary reviews today for SNL's "MacGruber." The trailer (and WWE Raw fiasco) made it looked like an infantile turd, but it's getting enthusiastic boffo reviews...
Robin Hood. It really was utter shit. One of the worst movies I've seen (at the cinema) in a while. It never seemed to know what story it wanted to tell. It was torn between the signing of the magna carta and between telling a story about Robin Hood. It failed at both. Even the old Robin Hood Prince of Thieves was twice the movie.

Just watched and thought it was awesome - seemed very much like a Tarantino movie, but not a rip off though.
I'm hoping they over dubbed some of Hit Girls speech.
Looks like a sequel is in the works.

Hopefully the combined TSF hatred of Cage doesn't stop some people from heading out to watch this!
