108Kgs

Plan of Attack: Unable to exercise too much due to fractured foot. Change of eating plan, not a diet as such. Advice appreciated. We just about to fill freezer with a 350kg heifer, 3 lambs and a pig. -
we all know diets don't work, it is changing a way of thinking and eating for the rest of your life basically!! so just start by reducing portions (i fish tonight with your chips instead of two) sort of thing.

I reckon though, one meal a week where you just eat what you want - the treat meal - is a must in any eating plan! -
My/our (wife) plan is the Weight Watchers Point system. Wife has joined WW again with friends so I'm jumping on bandwagon.

My daily points: 33

Counting the points is bloody interesting, have a fancy calculater which can work out the points of different foods on Sat Fat and KJS.

Eating better and selectively to max my points. Struggling at 4pm in afternoon milking when I run out of energy and "hit the wall" Hard working pushing on until 5pm.

We have beers after work once a week, 3 or 4 but cut bac this week to the piss take of yong fellas, also at a BBQ last night and had more salad on plate than meat, again got some flack. -
I've read this thread off and on since joining.

It's great to see that although your weight goes up and down you still seem motivated. Most people who put a kilo or two on get despondent and pig out for good.

A friend of mine learnt he had type 2 diabetes last year. He was told he could treat himself by policing his own diet or carry on like he was and end up on medication.

He undertook to change his eating habits and got in touch with Diabetes Auckland. They sent him a load of leaflets which included a list of what he should be eating (and more importantly, what he should be looking out for on packet labels. `99% Fat Free' really means nothing if the product has a high sugar content).

He goes without nothing. He still has all the goodies, alcohol, sugar, fats etc - but eats them like a diabetic would.

Anyway, he was 124kg just 8 months ago (when he started his diabetic diet) and has lost 22kg and his weight is still falling.

His only exercise is walking along Ruakaka beach three times a week (because he hates exercise and gyms).

His goal weight is 80kg. His doctor's suggested goal weight is 66kg. He says he'll work at getting to his goal weight and then maybe meet the doctor half way.

The rest of his family have all lost a kilo or two as well, because their eating habits have changed too.

Just something to consider.

Keep up the good work! -
that is wicked TJ, and those are the best stories too. Simialr one, friend had a brother in law who got his stomach stapled tom lose weight - 16 grand or somthing. Friend was massive too, so he thought he'd show bro in law you don't need to spend that sort of money, and lost more weight, and faster, just by watching what he eats - used to be a two loaf of bread a day man!!

anyway, well done to your friend, and anyone else doing that same thing. -
Good info and cheers TJ.

Update for week:

Hard to stick to 33 points at times, especially on social club night and when invited out for BBQ or dinner at others.

But weighed in this morning before heading out and was 107.3kgs (was 107.6 before taking a piss and hoping back on scales)

This week is the same plan, 33 points. we are eating better, not snacking on my fav whitechoc button biccies....

Also have a bike set up on runners so will be giving that a whirl to increase exercise. -
Paj how did they work out your daily points? Is it the 'standard' number for a male your age/height/etc? does it factor in the demands of your job/lifestyle?

I was thinking that an office worker would have less points allocated than a labourer or a farmer who has a physically demanding job and requires more energy to get through the day. Just a thought re your post where you mentioned you were knackered by 4pm. Faster weight loss versus reduced performance (or increased fatigue) at work?
