    interesting fight this ,

I think we probably find out a lot about Wilder , is he a real threat or a myth , but in my opinion , there is still a certain amount of that in Joshua and Joe ..... how good are they really ? do we really know ,

If Ortiz is rubbish , he possibly gets found out here , an ageing Ortiz is still a well drilled fighter in the Cuban mould ( which is like being a rugby player from NZ) with a long amateur career , he is technically sound , and a south paw ,

Ive got no idea what will happen ,

Got a nice free stream happening too , bonus πŸ™‚

Off topic but how come few if any of the Cubans ever go pro?

Felix Savon had a ridiculously good amateur record and turned down millions to fight Tyson.

Best HW fight in a while. Give Wilder his props as he looked gone. Ortiz needed to finish him off when he had the chance.

Wilder eventually has too much - great comeback from being all but down at the end of the 6th (or 7th?).

    Very entertaining fight.

Communist country , they have to defect to do that , but have had the best amateur boxing team in world boxing for some time

good fight as a spectacle ,

At one stage thought Wilder was going to get the award as the goose of the year for his constant trash talking of Joshua in the lead up

Teofilo Stevenson was probably the greatest amateur heavyweight of all time , 3 consecutive olympic gold medals ,

And boxed during the Ali era , many wished he could somehow switch to the pro ranks , he was 6 foot 5 , massive for that era , was offered 5 million to defect and fight Ali

shame we never got to see how he wouldve gone

Wilder did benefit from some generous refereeing at the start of the 8th with the mystery water in the ring. It's like deliberately spitting out your mouthguard to buy yourself some time.

For someone who is built like a basketballer (tall and skinny) Wilder does have some power.

I think wilder deserves an apology from me as he has a pretty good chin to withstand that. Dodgy antics aside.

I still think he's a rubbish fighter, even with this result but he won and that's what matters.

If he fights Joshua he has a chance. Joshua hits harder that Ortiz but his chin is suspect. But if he gets caught like he did today it's over. But he's proved himself against a much higher class of fighter.

Really thought Ortiz would take it before and during much of the fight. Totally shocked he got kod at thatvataye of the fight.

Parker gets through and I don't know what to think. Parker is a speed bump according to most pundits. And shouldn't feature after this next fight. But it'll be interesting if he gets the treats.

Wilder has genuine power in that right hand but Can’t see him unifying the titles .
I’d prefer if joe was fighting wilder with the winner fighting Joshua , don’t mind his chances there .
I think Joshua might stop them both unfortunately.

I've only seen the brief highlights but Wilder's wild swinging sure seems to get a bit of help from the ref. He often connects with his forearm on the back or side of the head and at one point it was MMA-ish as he was using elbows before a throw.
I don't see Brit refs (or at least refs operating in a UK fight) giving him that leeway.

Great comeback from Wilder, but Ortiz missed a golden opportunity.

No doubting his chin and the power in his right hand, but some very dodgy blows in the lead up to the knockout.

Joshua will jab him to death.

After that fight I give Wilder a serious chance against AJ. Yes his technique is horrible and is wild, but his chin held up very well, something that looked like it would be his downfall earlier in his career, he's fitter than AJ, and his power is something else. It wouldn't suprise me if Wilder stopped him late tbh, hopefully thi fight gets made within the next year or so.
