Tasman (feat. Robbie Malneek) vs Southland
-
Tasman Makos (probable): Will Jordan, Viliami Lolohea, Trael Joass, Alex Nankivell, James Lowe, Tim O'Malley, Finlay Christie; Jordan Taufua (vice captain), Pete Samu, Ethan Blackadder, Quinten Strange/Alex Ainley, Shannon Frizell, Tyrel Lomax, Andrew Makalio, Tim Perry (captain). Reserves: Ti'i Paulo, Tom Hill, Siua Halanukonuka, Vernon Fredericks, Pari Pari Parkinson, Billy Guyton, Mitch Hunt, Robbie Malneek.
A bit of rotation by Tasman, particularly in the backs - with Christie, O'Malley and Lolohea starting instead of Guyton, Hunt (both on the bench) and Faingaanuku - plus Joass for the suspended Aumua.
Lomax and Samu get starts and Ainley will be rested if Strange is fit. Halanukonuka finally back from his first round injury.
Must-win game given Tasman has a very tough close to the season with Taranaki followed by "hell week" and for us it comprises North Harbour, Auckland and Counties - probably the worst possible order.

@chris-b So this is what you get for a tip-tackle (no further info provided):
Levi Aumua suspended for three games,
I know I'm repeating myself, but I wish NZR (or, lacking that, the media) would just publish judicial decisions. I think we have the right to know the reasoning and considerations that lead to these decisions & punishments. Do the media get these decisions in the form of media releases? Aren't there media people on the Fern who can post them here?
-
@stargazer Can't help you on that - but, it's a bit more than I thought he'd get, since he was already red-carded and it looked more clumsy than reckless to me. However, it is what it is.
A bit disappointing, because I was looking forward to seeing a bit more of what he can do. That try where he shrugged off half a dozen tacklers was quite impressive.

Has Jordan got a super contract yet?

There appears to have been some form of statement, as the ODT published some details at the bottom of this story.

@smudge Yes, thank you, I posted all judicial decisions in the Mitre 10 Cup thread.
Keep fighting the good fight.

man I feel for the Banjo boys!
While in our dark days (when we went seasons without a win) we didnt concede points quite like they are, we still played poorly and losing was a habit that is tough to break!

Not to my knowledge, but Razor should have the printer warmed up and the pen and ink at hand.
Man of the Match today and hard to argue. He caused problems nearly every time he had the ball. Might be a significant impediment to ACT's aspirations for (PFAB)GB.
Frizell and Taufua seemed to go quite well at the game. Lineout was poor though.
Need one more win to be completely safe from relegation, two more wins to make the play-offs, but probably need to win all four to get a home semi.

@crazy-horse I think it will be hard for anyone to get a foot in ahead of the Crusaders unless they're offering serious cash. Leon's going to be watching Jordan every day of the week (and in his ear) and he's a ChCh boy, so you'd think anyone looking to poach him would need to bid substantially more than the Crusaders.
Plus - it's highly likely that the Crusaders are going to stand him in better stead for the ABs than most of the other NZ franchises.

I think this is the key for many aspiring young players.

@taniwharugby No point taking an extra $20K now, if it's going to cost you $500K down the track.
Jordan's offense is good and he runs some great lines, but he's still got some work to do defensively to be the full package.
