11 days to go...
-
light at the end of the tunnel is no longer a freight train, but the Easter bunny and a basket full of chocolate eater eggs!<br />
<br />
each day changes now, so the weeks burns itself out really fast. Sorted posing routine last night, now just have to do it and do it and do it and do it some more...<br />
<br />
the ten days of madness starts tomorrow, the harsh diet, with five days of hell (carb depletion) included in that, days 4 to 8 I think, and then the carb loading starts, and then on game day, it's SNICKERS time!!!<br />
<br />
Followed by, post competition, chocolate pretzels, pizza, and a cheese and crackers dish. NO beer this time around, as that makes my belly explode, and then there is no room for food... -
Any progress photos this time around?
-
Sorry K - have been told by my trainer to 'stay under wraps'! Not that I think many competitors will be looking here, but you never know. She got a txt the other day "what fat Burners did Bart use to get so lean" - from an unknown number. She ignored it, I asked her to pass the number on to me, so I caould reply, "pineapple lumps'....<br />
<br />
But once this comp is over We'll get some pics out there. At the moment though, my BW is 10% higher than it was last time I competed. I expect to drop another 5kg before D Day though in the dehydration phase. -
What is the competition? Is it another national one or just something of a similar quality?
-
Auckland regional. A warm up for an Aussie comp in late May - Ness and I have been selected in a NZ team to compete against a bunch of Aussie bastards!. Also qualifies you for the nationals if you place in the top three - meaning you can then train for the rest of the year and not have to lean down again, which stops your growth, before the nationals in October or November whenever it is! SO if I qualify, it'll be Waikato to get more stage time, without such a harsh diet, and then full noise to Nationals.

If only we had a forum not open to the public.... <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> Nah, makes perfect sense. No need to tip your hand to your competitors. -
Best of luck fella, looking forward to seeing how much progress you've made !
-
sort of perfect sense Kirwan - I am still getting my head around it. It's not as if we are going to be boxing or anything. On game day, everything is done, you've either done the work or not! But then it might make another bloke decide to not come in a bit soft as he was planning to if he was to see someone else ripped to shreds 11 days out. Not that I am, but if I was!!
-
I will get some photos done though, probably after wax job on Sunday - a hairy beast at the moment!!

<br />
Getting the full Bruno? back, crack, ahem!<br />
<br />
Hope everything goes well as you get down to the business end!! Good luck! -
ahhh, no, there are some things my wife will not do (she is a beauty therapist)!! But a sharp razor around the family jewels to remove that unsightly bikini line never hurt anyone...
-
agh!! classic ha ha, Hope you have a nice steady hand there mate!<br />
<br />
How does the BB competing compare with playing sport etc? do you get the same sort of rush/anticipation etc? I mean I'm sure you did heaps of training during your rugby playing days but this BB lark is pretty scientific and full on, I'd imagine the buzz is massive once you're on stage busting out your vogue moves!<br />
<br />
A guy I went to school and played rugby with got into BB and power lifting pretty hard out. He has gotten HUGE - however I do know he's had some assistance in that area (you know what). In talking to him about that lean down period before the comp he described going off into la la land! pretty much starving yourself for a number of days is how he described it... But if you've done all that work leading into that phase of training then that's what you've got to do! -
yeah, you get brain fade pretty serious! Lists, lists and more lists to make sure you have done everythihng. My day today is...<br />
<br />
5:15 - get up, boil kettle, first coffee of day with teaspoon of honey.<br />
5;50 - at gym training (chest today), then posing, symetry round, compulsory poses.<br />
7:30 - second coffee and honey and breakfast - 1/2 cup whole grain rolled oats, 1 1/2 scoops protein powder (with zaero carbs)<br />
10:00 - protein shake - same components as breakfast, but blended.<br />
12:00 - lunch - 300gm fresh fillets, 4 cups green veg, 1/2 cup rice. coffee / honey<br />
3:00 - afternoon protein shake 1 1/2 scoops powder.<br />
5:00 - 30 minute cycle, go through posing routine<br />
6 - dinner - see lunch!<br />
and I think there is one more protein shake at the end of day, can't remember, first day of new diet, but there usually is.<br />
<br />
So as you can see, not a lot of carbs over the next ten days, and it gets worse next Saturday... Rest days are gone - weights / cardio every day until next Wednesday and then they stop. <br />
<br />
Dehydration starts Monday...<br />
<br />
So curretnyl sitting here watching clock waiting for protein shake time!! -
wow! so that's 6 meals/snacks/shakes throughout the day plus coffee - is that enough to fuel full effort sessions at the gym? I guess its all done on calcs so you are getting exactly what you need given what you are burning in your workouts etc. The science of it all is pretty impressive, talk about fine tuning the human body.
-
nah, at the moment we are runnning at serious calorie defecits. Making out bodies burn what fat is left. The trick is to keep the muscle there and make the body burn the fat for fuel.<br />
<br />
It is a mad science that is for sure - fortunate for us, we have a mad scientist to tell us what to do!<br />
<br />
so looking at that, currently my only carbs are those WG rolled oats, and what small quantities from the veg! and this is not yet the carb deplete! -
fuck, me they say BB is like childbirth, by the time you want to do it again, you have forgotten how fucing hard it is at the pointy end of the process.<br />
<br />
3:58pm and my belly button is in contact with my spinal column. A tad hungry! Ah well, this time next week I will have visited my trainer and will be getting ready to carb up! <br />
<br />
the top two inches, "the devils playground" is where this battle is won and lost. -
day two of starvation rations. Leg workout this morning - same as my usual one, so strength is still there, I expect in four days time when my legs get attacked again, they will be less willing!!<br />
<br />
but still all good, the grumps are not in force! -
oh, and food - it is now just fuel. apart from breaky and my shakes, all food tastes like shit!! That is all.
-
MMMmmmmmmm, carb free zone now, but breakfast this morning was GREAT. 250gm of fresh salmon poached in it's own juices. and green beans - raw!!!<br />
<br />
Was fan bloody tastic. But expect I will be sick of that by Wednesday! -

Get on that salmon. Love that stuff. <br />

<br />
I remember when I had my first Personal training session and the PT kept saying "you've got plenty in store" all throughout the session. All the while I was gasping for air and barely freaking walk. I didn't know what he was going on about, but realise it was all the fat I had in store (my body) that I needed to burn. He wasn't doing it in a derogatory way, but as a motivator that I could keep going because I had stored energy to burn! -
still not sick of salmon, one day to go on that until we see trainer on Wednesday - I ahve my rolled oats and protein powder porridge that morning, as she will be putting me through my compulsory posing round, and then deciding on my diet for the next few days before competition after that.<br />
<br />
There is ZERO temptation at the moment to cheat on anything. WE were packing our 'goody' bags last night, bagging up giant jelly beans and snikcers bars and all the rest for the sugar blitz that our body gets on Saturday, and did not even cross mind to slip on orange giant jelly bean into my gob. So in a good place at the moment. But not one where I want visitors!<br />
<br />
Have I mentioned my full carb free day? Not quite carb free, as I get apples, but other than that zilch. Breaky salmon and green beans, mid monring 200g chicken and an apple. Lucnh 200g chicken, an apple and 4 cups green veg, mid afternoon protein shake and apple, dinner 300g fish, 4 cups green veg, evening shake and a final apple. Does not take a long time to eat your food!!<br />
<br />
so fice days out, and all going well - Mrs BartMan looking wicked.<br />
<br />
Oh, and first day of dehydration today.... -
overnight, some bastard took out my eyeballs, rolled them in some sand, and put them back in my head. You know that hangover feeling when it hurts to blink...!!!<br />
<br />
other than that, all still ticking along like a time bomb!!<br />
<br />
weight still up, muscles all coming out to play, all going according to plan, perhaps - we'll find out more tomorrow when we see out trainer. Feels OK, but I don't think i am where I was at last time. This comp not the focus though - Aussie in four weeks is the goal for the first part of the season - this is a warm up event.<br />
<br />
But I like winning, so fingers crossed we have done enough with my body to get me over the line! -
Bart - sounds like its going great guns. BTW whats in your ''4 cup green veg'' - Broccoli I expect, what else?
-
brock, cabbage, beans, celery. Also roast courgette. Lettuce, cucumber also slip in under that umbrella with dinner!<br />
<br />
basically at the moment it all tastes like shit.<br />
<br />
have zero cravings for ANY kind of food at the moment. Sitting eating my chicken at lunch, with raw celery and raw beans (sweet!) and there is zero desire for any food. Thinking Tim Tams - nah, a good old fashioned potato top pie - nah, there is zero desire for any food of any sort - a weird place to be in, but here I am!! -
Really, not some nice pesto pasta? Or a barbie? Or some juicy pig knuckle? Or a roast lamb sandwich? Mmmm yummy. Or a hot cross bun dripping in butter? Or jaffas / chocolate fish? Or a cookie time cookie (or whatever they're called)? Or some original KFC? <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /><br />
<br />
Good luck on the rest of the week and the comp. I admire your dedication, and your diet right now is pretty perfect-having mostly raw food is the way to go most of the time. I have a big vege juice every day. -

I suppose thats where you have to be careful you don't go too far in the other direction where you end up forcing yourself to eat. Or I guess for you it is purely fuel and when the take is empty you just top up. -
Kea=cruel bastard <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
-
hmm, a cookie time chocolate afghan... and when I pick up the fresh fish from the butchers the raw sausages look good - they have some excellent gourmet type sausages. I might even consider cooking them first...
-
Salmon sashimi with soy sauce, perfect. I actually like that about as much as meat or cooked fish.
-
yeah, the Mrs is thinking Sushi at the moment! Although she's much like me - just fuel for you body at the moment, it sucks!
-
A big black pit. I visited one yesterday on day five of zero carbs. Zero enthusiasmi for anything! But today is carb up time. Nothing major, but the biody will love me for it! Eight Race wafers for breakfast with 100g chicken, 4 with JAM mid morn with 150 chicken, 200g chicken 4 wafers and green veg for lunch - it's all good.<br />
<br />
Visisted trainer yesterday, retaining water like mad on thighs and on back, otherwise all going well. So stair climbing yesterday and today on the menu. Worried - yes, but not much you can do but look back and see what you have done and change. Been a bit different this time arounf trying to keep mass on as opposed to having to target a weight and get down to it, which had me losing muscle, fat, hair and anything else I could! We'll find out what works by Aussie, Waikato and the nationals at the end of the year!<br />
<br />
Vanessa looking fuckiung amazing. Will have to put some comp photos up from the three she has done, it is a different person - upper body always been pretty good, but is much bettter too, but the legs, un-fucking-believable changes. She should be winning this Auckland comp overall. If not, the lady that takes it will certainly be looking prettyb fantastic.
