    First starting XV

    Moody/Coles/Franks/BBBR/Whitelock (S)/Cane/Squire/Read/Smith (A)/Barrett (B)/SBW/Crotty/Ioane (R)/[Dagg]/Smith (B)

    Second starting XV

    Hames/Taylor/Laulala/Romero/Barrett (S)/Todd/Fifita/Kaino/TJP/Lima/Laumape/ALB/Naholo/[NMS]/Barrett (J)

    Some room for match 23 to include impact players, such as Savea (A).

    Second XV would beat many international firsts.

    Interesting also that Savea gets a mention before McKenzie...

    This third XV is also nothing to be ashamed about:

    1 Ofa, 2. Aumua, 3. JTA, 4. PT, 5. Bird, 6. Ioane(A), 7. Savea(A), 8. Whitelock(L), 9. Weber (or Drummond), 10. Mo'unga, 11. Tamanivalu, 12. Havili, 13. Goodhue, 14. Duffie, 15. Dmac

    I realise the ABs and Crusaders have used Havili as a fullback this year, but he has played most of his young career at 2nd five and, with adequate preparation, the combo with Goodhue could work much better than it did in the Crusaders game v the BIL match.

    @stargazer no Crockett?

    Havili is a pretty awful 12. Tamanivalu is better, Buckman is better, Thompson is better...

    @bones I can't see Crockett as a starter, except in last-minute emergencies. So no. Although I'm not a fan of Ofa, he can play both TH and LH.
    Havili is not "pretty awful" at 12; I've seen him play at 12 often enough to know that. I don't remember the exact wording, but Hansen said around the time Havili was called up that he saw it as advantage that he could also play 12. Also, I only looked at players that have actually worn the black jersey, so no Buckman and Thomson (I'd love to see Buckman in black though). Because I was running out of backs, Havili at 12 and Dmac at 15 was obviously a better option than Dmac at 12 and Havili at 15 😉 . I needed Tamanivalu at 11 because there were no other realistic wing options left (again, only selected ABs).

    Edit: it was Foster (not Hansen) who said that what Havili brought to the table was that he could play "in a number of positions". I've only ever seen him play at 12, 13 and 15, so I assume those were the positions he was referring to.

    Jules is really out of favour.

    @stargazer if you are picking players who have worn the black jersey then chuck Ngatai at 12.

    Waits for incoming jokes about Ngatai hype

    Amazing that, apart from Weber, all of these players have worn Black this year. And that's before one throws in impact types like Crockett and discontinued models such as Savea (J)!

    I think MN5 is off with some injury.
