As a NZer am not unhappy.
As a rugby fan disappointed.
-
@mikethesnow Just means there is an opportunity for someone else to step up. Players withdrawing and injuries happen all the time. The Boks won’t win or lose because of his loss. Heck the AB’s are in perpetual injury induced rotation.
-
Wasn't he injured for TRC last year too?
-
-
@tim So they've now lost their head coach and backs coach. Things are not looking good for the Pumas

when did they last look good? They have been a massive disappointment.

and before that was probably early October 2011. And before that October 2007.
Can't shake their soccer mentality

I'm sure there will be pressure on Ledesma to take over the national job given what he has done with the Jaguares. The players would have entered the June period with confidence high but how quickly things have changed.

Rugby: All Blacks skipper Kieran Read returns from injury in Counties trial
All Blacks captain Kieran Read has eased himself back into match fitness with an industrious stint for Counties Cavaliers in a pre-season clash with Tasman.
Read put in a 40-minute shift at a packed Manurewa Rugby Club against a Tasman side that had clearly come to play, leading 12-7 as the sides made their way to the halftime oranges.
It was the Papakura product's first appearance in his home province for several years and as far as comebacks go, it was fairly unremarkable.
He had plenty of opportunity to work on his defence, as the visitors spent most of the half camped inside their own territory, but struggled to convert their possession into points.
All Blacks teammate Jordan Taufua, who missed the recent French series with injury, was also in action, receiving a late call-up to start for the visitors in an injury-enforced change, after originally being named to start off the bench.
That set up an unlikely grassroots clash of international number eights and with Tim Perry anchoring a dominant Tasman scrum, the South Islanders had the upper hand throughout the opening stanza.
-
"We knew he was going overseas before we named the team for the June series and if Ardie's not right, then he and I will negotiate to see if he's available for the two Bleds," All Blacks coach Steve Hansen said this week.
-
Loose forward Taufua, who was named in the All Blacks squad to play France earlier this month but never played because of a calf injury, is understood to have been granted a release from the Mitsubishi Sagamihara Dynaboars club before playing a game for them. Slated to leave New Zealand after the Crusaders completed their Super Rugby season, the 26 year old will now be back on Tasman's roster and therefore eligible to represent the All Blacks. Taufua's sudden change of heart suggests the All Blacks selectors have asked him to stay in New Zealand ahead of the Rugby Championship and, later in the year, the tour to Japan and Europe.
-
Ok, so I feel a lot happier now both Todd and Taufua are still in contention for selection for TRC
-
@shadowtrooper Sounds like it's only "might be" and for the two Bledisloe matches for Todd. Interesting that this sabbatical played a bit of a role in selections for the France series.
I'm pleased for Taufua - even if he doesn't get picked for the ABs, he'll be very handy for Tasman, who could be without Squire, Frizell, Taufua and Samu in the loose forwards.
Surely we'll have one of Taufua or Frizell!

It's oddly stupid that you have that much potential loose forward depth - you're not Canterbury!
-
@nepia We're taking over NZ rugby.
We've got Hames, Crockett and Perry as our loosehead props as well!

Meanwhile, the Chiefs region are sneaking coaches in left, right and centre. Who is floating around...Tana, Foster, Gatland, that new AB assistant whose name escapes me...
-
@bones Scott McLeod?
-
@chester-draws yes!

That's gonna do them fuck all good if they haven't got any loosehead props.
Mwaha haha hahahahahha.....
@Nepia - we've got Blackadder Jr. as well. He can play loose forward for now and will doubtless grow into a great coach for when the Chiefs try to corner that market!
-
Hinton must have watched a different back three to me against the French.
Claims that it is an easy call for BFA to remain at 15, and Naholo is the best 14, plus jordie should switch to 14 to get a run. Plus some other shit.
-
@gt12 well that's just objectively wrong.
-
@gt12 that is a shit read.
-
@gt12 so let me quote the first paragraph:
ANALYSIS: Kieran Read's self-evident keenness to get back on the rugby field this year is almost certainly a very good thing for the All Blacks. Unless, of course, it turns into a very bad thing.
Great analysis. Let me try: The All Blacks will lose. Unless, of course, they win.
-
It is a continual annoyance to me how ill disciplined the ABs are, especially as someone with heaps of NH mates! I hope it is soething that they are working on but TBH I think it is all planned, and ABs are happy to defend with a man down.Interestingly Ozzie are worse, but that's due to biased refs c.v. theroar.com.au/rugby
-
@machpants so on average 3 penalties a game difference between the angels (Ireland) and the demons (Aus)
If at the end of a game the penalty count was 8-11, is that actually that bad? I guess it comes down to the actual penalties and what they are for, but guess that doesnt help the narrative that we are the thugs of world rugby who get away with murder.
-
@taniwharugby Yeah I see what you;re saying but when you combine it with the numbers of cards
and the trend of cards
it's not good. -
@machpants kinda disproves the other thing NH like to shout about, that refs are afraid to card us.
What would that look at pre-2017, 2016, 2017 (when comparing) and 2018 aint been kind to us, it's like the refs are against us and there is some conspiracy to try to keep us from dominating the world!

-
Nooooooo!
Rasta makes his way up the ranks! -
Gauzere and Raynal. Sheesh.
Makes having Poite at the end there seem like a good thing.

Gonna be interesting to see how these French guys go - after all thst was written in last few months.
At least Rasta hasn’t got a game.
-
Loosehead prop depth might get a big test:
Fox said the balance of the squad changed slightly because of TRC's travel element. Plus there are returning bodies to factor in, with skipper Kieran Read tracking well post-back surgery, and Nepo Laulala and Dane Coles both not far from returns. "Nepo and Colesy are not far away, and despite Sonny having injury problems he should be available in the Rugby Championship," said Fox. "Joe Moody too, even though he might miss one or two early. There will be some discussion around how we manage that.
Might see us going into some tests with Karl Tuinukuafe and Ofa T as the looseheads.
-
I'm pretty comfortable that five will go into four reasonably easily. That both Crotty and Williams are fit at the same time is possible, but not common.
