Tasman team named. Video is somewhat worth watching - there's a couple of amusing bits..
Notable features are Grooby (who?) at halfback ahead of Christie and Guyton (both presumably injured).
Jamie Spowart and Alaimalo on the wings - and Will Jordan at fullback!!!!
No sign of Alex Ainley - Pari Pari Parkinson at lock.
Starting XV looks quite good. Bench looks frail.
Warm-up game for us. Canterbury by 20+ without even seeing their team.

@nepia Yeah looks like a close one, and an early pre final probably
The Naki look strong too.

Wrong thread.

No Enari yet for Canterbury and I'm surprised not to see Punivai on the wing and Ennor at centre.
A couple of Cantab debutantes in the starting midfield, it’s only Tasman.
-
@shark If fucking Hansen would have selected Akira Ioane, we would at least have had one of our four international loose forwards available (Frizell). If he'd picked Toomaga-Allen rather than Perry, we'd have Tim as well.
As it is, I think our starting eight matches up pretty well to yours - but, your bench forwards look quite a bit stronger.
-
Burleigh at 12, I reckon @Baron-Silas-Greenback will tune in for this one

He is DEAD to me.

@chris-b just as well Auckland loaned you Sione Havili then.
Agent Leon has his work well underway!

@mimic Which one? There are 3 in the Tasman 23.
The one on loan from Auckland

Champs are lookin like chumps, that pass from 9 to 10 - who was chatting away and paying no attention to the game...
That was funny - usually it is the kids who you have to remind to watch the ball
-
Are provincial budgets that bad there are no alternate jerseys?
Excellent play by the Makos. Starving us of ball and getting plenty of go forward.

Pink and Blue vs Red and Black? But yeah it's hard to differentiate.
-
Our basics are poor so far. Blew that last build up badly.
-
Dunshea put a good hit on Makalio
-
Mako haven't been clinical enough. Should be ahead by more. Problems will come when the bench forwards have to come on - we need to be further ahead than this.
Strange having a big game - shutting down the Cantab lineout - their first one was miles from straight as well!
Need the outside backs more involved - especially Jordan and Alaimalo.
And Aumua - he's a big munter - 118kg according to some sources!
-
Good game to watch thus far; a real arm wrestle, although with the typical first round errors. Tasman frontrow working well, esp Makalio. Despite giving away some penalties, I like what I see from young Blackadder. David Havili having a good shift as well with plenty of aggression. Alaimalo looking good, too.
Tasman had a lot of possession and territory, but Canterbury's defence is solid, although they're clearly missing Luke Whitelock and Dominic Bird. On attack, it's not working well without Mo'unga steering the game. Braydon Ennor playing well, though. I expect Canterbury to get into their game in the 2nd half and wouldn't be surprised if Ennor or McKay would score the first Cantab try.
