Okay, we are halfway through the competition and I'm curious to know where we could possibly finish. Here's some rough guesses as to what the future results will be :-

    Hawkes Bay.
Lose to Waikato, Taranaki, Bay of Plenty, Canterbury and Tasman.
    Total extra point 0.

It will be difficult for us to lose to Canterbury; especially because we're not playing them this year. Counties on the other hand, are beatable.

Considering you think we won't get any point anymore, you must expect us to lose without a bonus point, too. Who are you kidding?

I'm totally aware that this is just "pie in the sky" stuff and I'm often wrong (almost always). What it does show however is that it is still anyone's competition to win and one upset could decide the final winners or one result could change the final standings. (Hawkes Bay could beat us which would leapfrog them to second but we would remain on top.) It will be fascinating.

We could definitely beat .. of Plenty. It's one of those games that could go either way. Just like the Taranaki and Counties games.

I know my predictions will be scoffed at by many (particularly those from Hawkes Bay). I know The TAB predict Taranaki to end above us on the table and they are more often than not right.. What I would like to know is "How far out am I ? "

I know the Magpies have a (more) difficult run to the finals and am realistic enough to expect that we'll drop a few games. However, only Tasman is the one that I've pencilled in as a certain loss.

I'm more than happy with the underdog status though. Makes it more fun to rub it in if we unexpectedly win.

  • @Stargazer Excellent reply ! I'm glad you picked up on that deliberate Counties/ Canterbury mistake..

  • If we make the finals, I don't care if we lose all the other games aside from the Of Plenty match.

Pity we have to travel up to your little community field to play the game though.

Have they finished digging your one up yet?

Considering we are playing the Naki match there - I don't get the joke?

We got a few extra cricket games at Bay Oval last year thanks to your dual purpose stadium having the drainage of a swamp. It's helped put us well and truly on the itinerary for international teams 🙂

  • @mariner4life wont be against us...

  • There you go with your predictions! 5 points in the bag for the Magpies.

  • I have to say how disappointed I am with this thread. I thought I would get a bollocking from most on this board so congratulations to Stargazer for his imput.

I still stand by my predictions however. Last nights result was an upset and I'm sure there will be others before the end of the season. This thread does show how well placed BOP is at this time in the Competition though.

  • Meh, it was only Waikato...
