Yeah but you still ran for an hour and a half!! it's all mileage on the clock bro.

Have you picked up a roller yet? bro your IT band (outside of your quads) will love you for it. Squats and running are two things that tighten the IT band up heaps... trust the power of the fern!

But I use the one at the gym, and yes its bloody good. Legs have been sound the last 2 weeks. Just have to get into that routine of putting aside a bit of time for it. Have always been too half-arsed on the stretching, warm-down etc.

    Tuesday:

Morning: Shoulders. Shoulder press, side raises, shrugs, front raises. Did the job.

Evening: 3km "sprint". Buggered if I know what the time was, but I mapped out an area that was approximately 3km and ran as fast as I could. Not exactly the same as the treadmill.

Wednesday: Was supposed to do some running, but listened to body and took day off. The fact it was freezing outside (by Brisbane standards) made the choice easier. Ran around playing soccer with youngest Nutter while eldest was at rugby training so did a bit of exercise.

Thursday: Morning - Back and tris. Combo of superset and Deadlifts. Not bad at all.

Evening - 50 minute run. I used to run in the snow in Norway, yet I was a right pussy before the run last night. Was about 8 degrees, which is ice age for Brisbane but still warmer than what I used to run in. But I bunged on my old cut-price Tongan jersey and once I got going it was a thoroughly pleasant run.

Today: Was meeting a mate at the gym so thought I could pull of intervals this morning. No chance. Stupid to even think of it. Did a bit of a mixture of abs, chest and biceps. Nothing major, just getting a nice pump on. Will try and get the running in tonight.

Saturday: Was shattered on Friday night so no run then. Had to move it to Saturday morning. Was just a fairly brisk 40 minute run. Perfect Brisbane day and lovely to run when you know you have the entire weekend ahead of you. Did some crunches to failure when I got back.

Sunday: Full day of action due to Norwegian national day. Parade, buffet lunch and all that so long run was not going to happen. Ended up doing 40 minutes again which was better than nothing.

Monday: Should have had an early night, but have become hooked on the Walking Dead and stupidly started downloading the Foxtel box set. Didn't get to bed until 1 am (how fooking retarded is that?). So that killed off any chance of early morning weights, but had a bit of time and took a rare afternoon session. Don't know if it was the time of day or that fact that I'd been up half the night watching Walking Dead, but it was a goddam EPIC session. Chest and biceps hammered like no tomorrow. I feel like I have beachballs on my arms!

Backlog again...

Unfortunately, the Walking Dead has been ruining my sleeping hours and therefore affecting my training. Damn boxsets. The worst thing is I haven't even got to series 3 yet. Doesn't really help that I only get access to the TV after the wife has finished watching Greys Anatomy, Heart of Dixie and all that other appalling shit. Anyway:

Tuesday: Managed a morning session in spite of the zombies. Was another cracker. Back and tris. Loving the superset. Then had 60 minute run that evening. Was a bit of a struggle, but felt good at the end. Then I stupidly sat in front of the TV and watched more Zombies getting their brains blown out.

Wednesday: Didn't do shit. Thought of going for a run, but I had to work until 10:30. Chose to watch Zombies instead. Was about to turn the dishwasher on before I went to bed and realised it was broken on one side. Spent another 30 minutes in a vain effort to fix it. Waaaaay too late in bed.

Thursday: Tired and grumpy today, but trained around lunch time. Not sure why, but gym was full of young moons talking the usual bullshit and singing along to Savage Garden (yes seriously). Some of them were doing Deadlifts and dropping the bar after every single damn rep. Farking knob jockeys. They weren't in my way or anything but the gym is like my sanctuary not a place I want to listen to dick heads. But actual session went well. Shoulders well hammered. Run later tonight. Will have to stay away from the TV tonight, otherwise I'll be smashed on the weekend.

Back to it.

Thursday night: 40 minute run. No dramas. Sprinting at the end. Felt good.

Friday: Again it was a case of one more episode, just once more, and that stuffed me for Friday morning as well. However, I did manage to get out and do a 3km "sprint" with some bicep curls and pushups before lunch. Actually I totally rooted myself after that run.

Was pretty active in the garden on Saturday. Had heaps to do. Then had friends over that night. Ate too much shit and drank a fair bit (for me). Man how good is Mango sorbet. Then I watched more bloody Walking Dead before falling asleep on the sofa.

Sunday: Obviously run was out of the question in the morning, but did get out at around 6pm. Ran for an hour and it went pretty smoothly. Then I ate some fried chicken fingers for dinner and more mango sorbet. Ah bugger it, I've earned it. Still, my stomach swelled up from the fat in the fingers and I felt bloody pregnant.

Monday: Chest and biceps. Not as good as last week, but damn I'm loving this day.

Serious backlog here for the usual bloody reasons. Anyway:

Tuesday: Back and tris. Been a while now, but I think it was ok.

Wednesday: Nothing other than soccer training with youngest nutter.

Thursday: Got shoulders in but no time for running. One of those days.

Friday: Absurdly hectic Ended up running for 50 minutes at about 11pm. Was good to get something done, but tacos for dinner didn't exactly help. Felt good after the run though.

Saturday: Had a much needed nap. Also got a roller, or more precisely the wife got a roller for her rehab. Have laid down the law to the boys to not destroy this particular piece of kit. Tucked in to the old man's Schnitzel and bratkartoffeln for dinner. Damn I could live on that stuff. The ultimate in good, hearty feed.

Sunday: 1:30 run at about midday. Struggled but had to be done. Will really need to lift my game if I want to complete this thing without hurting like a bitch.

Monday: Chest and biceps. Always a good day!

Stupid amount of work this week, but I'm bored of Walking Dead so if I plan things right I should have a decent training week.

Tuesday: Back and tris. Did the job. No run, way too much to do.

Wednesday: Will have to get a run in sometime today. Will be tough. Worked very late and was woken way too early by my evil spawn today and am farked.

Some serious catch up here.

Not the best of weeks, but not the worst. Unfortunately still not able to give 100% and always something getting in the way. A few freezing nights didn't help, although I still managed another 10pm run on Friday. Eating is getting slack and I'll have to get my act together there. Have had nothing but shit for dinner the past 5 nights.

Monday: Chest and biceps. Yeah, this day just keeps on delivering. Perfect combo of everything. If only every session was like this.

Have felt shattered most of the weekend but the human body is a seriously bizarre thing. At about 4 the wife suggested (from the comfort of the couch) that I go for a run. It was the last thing I felt like doing but thought fark it. Eldest ran with me for about a km or so and then I just did a Forrest Gump. Ended up running for 1hr45min. Went pretty well and I felt I had something left in the tank at the end which is a good sign. Will sleep well tonight.

Another Cnut of a week. Usual routine. Starts off well and then goes to poo.

The wife and kids left for Norway on Tuesday and we had Red Rooster at the airport. I had the most disgusting looking and tasting "chicken" burger. Would make a farking Billy goat puke.

The week sort of went downhill from there. Had a run on Wednesday and trained shoulders on Thursday but had another 16 hour day on Friday. Felt like shit after that.

This morning I did a quick 4km, followed by bicep curls, 100 pushups and abs. Felt much better. Will try for 2 hour run tomorrow.

Any chance you can push back on the work bizo? Or is it just the way it is? Crazy that the thing you need most (aside from rooties) when you are working those kinds of hours is exercise! Nothing smashes stress and work fatigue faster than a good run or tin session.

You are still getting enough in for maintenance bro, but I know you are building up for the long run. Keep working on that base (not bass, as in your big booty!) and hopefully you can up the ante over a shorter period of time.

Could you move your training to before work?

It's a wee bit harder but it no excuses and sets you up very well to smash the shit out of your day at work

Respect your discipline to make that routine bro. Agree that hitting shit up in the morning makes for a mean day.

I'm self-employed so I really have to take the work when its there. I also missed a fair bit of work last year due to the illness situation. Should calm down in August.

With the family now overseas I should have more time for training. But God it's quiet at home without them here.

Its just hard to get up at 6 when I don't get to bed until 12:30-1. My work comes exclusively from Scandinavia, so I really have to stay awake until the end of the work day there.

I also can't do just mornings when I want to do weights and cardio on the same day.

Ultimately its the definition of first world problem. Just makes me wish I didn't waste the best part of my late teens and 20s with a dodgy kebab in one hand, a beer in the other and my head in the toilet.
