Puzzled by the funeral 'clause'.
There was talk about this in Parliament today. From what I gather, there's been discussion/agreement with faith leaders to limit numbers at funerals and reduce risk while allowing religious observance and grieving when people died.

Superb from Johnson (and I'm not a fan)
Always been their strategy
Three strikes and you're in
Work, schools, non-essential shops & entertainmentReduce the load on the NHS
In 12-weeks the first wave of infected individuals will either be killed or cured.
And morons on twitter are already discussing ways to get round the restrictions.
Puzzled by the funeral 'clause'.
No social gatherings amongst families if they don't live in the same household.
A family member passes away and that gets waived.
Doesn't make sense to me.
Thought they said only immediate family?

Even so there will be multiple households gathering together

Re: funeral
I have a friend sadly going through this at the moment as her father passed away. They were told last week by crematorium maximum of 10 family members. She has already said she will limit down to her husband and children and brother if she has to. -

Hell of a position to be in.
Lets say he banned funerals..what happens when groups of people whose fealty lies more with their faith than the state decide that this is a persecution of their faith.

Same could be said for baptisms, christenings, bar/bat mitzvahs, arranged marriages

A few pages ago we spoke of the need for a bit of nuance in the reported virus figures.
A revealling stat came out today here in NSW: of the 818 confirmed cases, there are currently only 13 people in intensive care.
So you'd think there is currently plenty of capacity in our healthcare system. With the current restrictions in place, let's hope it stays that way.

I'd much rather we have the capacity and not reach it than the other way round. I expect most people would feel the same ... and that's why each country is taking these measures.

From Sam Stein’s twitter feed. Hope he’s right.
“Italy’s lockdown does seem to finally be working.
“New cases today 4,789 for a total of 63,927 — down about 1,000 from yesterday
“New deaths today 601 for a total of 6,077 — down about 50 from yesterday
“Horrible numbers still. But big picture: some rays of optimism“

@Salacious-Crumb "DOWN" is such a hopeful word. It is what we are all waiting for!!

I know I know broken record...but fuck fucken hell BBC! Currently cutting to 3 different roving reporters and their crews.
Facepalm.
Quite. I saw a rant from Piers the twat earlier where he was lecturing people to stay at home. From the comfort of his studio. Presumably he identifies as an essential worker.

Deaths - and ICU usage - are age related. Could be the infected age group is predominantly young - low ICU usage.
It's when the virus gets into the elderly, as in Italy, that deaths take off.

Interesting that the same people who said "close everything down" are now complaining "closing everything down" is causing big problems...

Is that enough data points to take a view?
Hopefully we'll see a drop tomorrow which will confirm a trend.

Ive been finding that certain regions arent updating daily or at regular intervals. Also once a city reaches 5000 or a country 10000 infections then the growth reduces..this could be an actual reduction or it could be an indicator that there isnt enough reporting or testkits.
Hopefully they are coming out of it next week of data should show.

@Victor-Meldrew careful checking out each other on whatsapp, you might get more than you had hoped for.
We were sharing pics on group and niece is knitting furry animals. Pic goes up of a woolen rabbit.
Grandma pops up. "Oh what a lovely fluffy rabbit"....
