@No-Quarter They are saying meh to the whole virus thing. This was in response to the comment by @gt12 that Covid is still hanging on in some people's minds.
As for the rest of your post - it sort of proves my point.
I'm definitely over all the shouty hyperbole.

It appears to me the only people making any noise at all about Covid are those that were anti mandates and lockdowns from the get go. Looking for some sort of justification.
I'm sure that there is also a tiny rump of henny penny's who still think that we are living on the brink of a medical Armageddon, but most are simply meh.
Personally I wouldn't be vaccinating under 12's as there is no real benefit, but I thought the stories of high numbers of kids dying from the vaccine had been discredited?
Of course people who were dismayed at the draconian lockdowns and vaccine mandates are pissed off that it turns out there was, at best, a very very weak justification for them. They shut down the entire fucking world for this, the mental health, education and economic effects of what they did will be felt for decades. And of course it's poor people who are being fucked the hardest by all of this. TBH I'm actually shocked that people would just say 'meh' to all of that.
IMHO the actions of our government in the first 6 to 9 months were reasonable given the circumstances.
Criticism of that period feels like 20/20 wisdom in hindsight to me. From there they have sat on their hands and failed to assess what was going on in the NH and Australia, and consequently failed to act. They are still doing it, as evidenced by the belated winding up of the traffic light system and their foot dragging on immigration in response to the severe labour shortage -

Fuck anyone who peer pressured people to get it based on saving grandma and grandpa
It wasn't so much that, but the threat of redundancy/ job loss pressure, not being able to have your business open pressure, not being able to go anywhere pressure, not being able to visit friends/parents/people in hospital/rest homes pressure, your kids not being able to play sport pressure. The list goes on...
All these in this country were mandated.
And everyone seems to have forgotten.
I'm pretty convinced the mandates destroyed more lives than what the virus ever did - though getting impartial and unbiased data on that probably wont happen for another 10 years or so until "certain" people have left public office.
It's unbelievable.
It’s fucking criminal
And stupid fluffybunnies here in Wales continue to vote in these evil cretins

I got asked a couple of days ago if I’m going to get my four year old jabbed. I was like, for what?
Its strange how Covid is hanging on here (and in other places) in some people’s minds.
I got three shots simply because I needed them to travel.
Same here
And may need 4th to get back to Japan

My MIL called my wife (her daughter) tonight to tell her that her sister-in-law has covid (so my wife's brothers sister)
Yeah that was confusing, sorry.
Anyway, my wife got suitably angry at the interruption, and I was very proud. Lots of "who cares " amd "it's just a cold now" comments thrown out. Good stuff.
But for some reason , some folk are really clinging to this. Still terrified of it. Still want to keep it mainstream. Still wearing masks, sanitising supermarket trolleys, not wiling to pass someone on an escalator.
Will be amazing to look at the last 3yrs at some point in the future and try to understand the psyche behind our behaviour.

So you need 3/4 shots for Japan?
I stopped at 2, really don't want to get any more. But would like to get to Japan in the next couple of years
It's just beyond stupid now. Everyone who thinks they need all the shots has now had ample time to get as many as they like. Leave the rest of us alone.

In Taiwan, masks are no longer required by law if you are outside.
Despite this, 99% of people are still wearing them everywhere. -

3 shots = come right in
2 shots or less = Covid test 72hrs outNot sure whether the 3rd shot has to be within 6 months of arrival
If so, then it’s the 4th for me

I don't get triggered by those who still want to take precautions, and they don't seem to be triggered by me. The olds still wear masks in places, and I even laughed at the old man wiping down my trolley when they were up last. But so what. At the end of the day each to their own. The only time I have worn a mask to the shops in the last while was when I had a cold and was sneezing and coughing. So it wasn't for me, it was for everyone else's benefit.
As for the media trying to keep Covid in the public eye?
Most people couldn't give a fuck anymore

@MiketheSnow My kids have all had Covid. Two of them twice. No stats indicate it's needed. Good business for the jabbers and those who want to continue in Covid centered life and create fear amongst those susceptible.
-
@broughie we had our first bout last month, wife and I had our booster last year sometime (maybe Novemberish) all testing positive on consecutive days
Kids haven't been boosted (17 & 14)
Wife was worst, down for 2 days, and lingering very mild symptoms 2 weeks later (sinus' not cleared) but she also had just got over the normal flu and had some major surgery in June.
I had barely anything, just got tired about 4pm, but it did make a sinus issue worse for me which has lingered
Kids barely even had any symptoms, we were worried re TR Jnr as he had been smashed by the normal flu 6 weeks earlier and only just fully recovered, which took him a month or more inc antibiotics to shake.

I don't think that will happen because it would mean a mea culpa by some.

Possibly never. When I live in the PI they would use their handkerchiefs as masks because of the pollution. A mask would be easier. Never thought it was related to having a cold but could be wrong.
The Asians over here still like to represent the mask including at the golf course. And they like to think they are the brightest bulbs out there.
As @canefan said I don't care what precautions others want to take. Each to their own. I only wish this was the mantra when this started.
-
@taniwharugby glad the fam recovered and yes my kids had minor symptoms too. Mainly fatigue and feeling blah. My boy went home from school not feeling well and slept for 17 hours. He was ok in a couple of days.
They were talking about kids being required to have a shot and we would not let that happen. We live in a state more like NZ politically.
-
@broughie TR Jnr was like that with the 'normal' flu, came home from school and just slept!
If they get a combined vax for flu and covid, I might consider it now given I never got the normal flu vax...more because I havent had an illness for so many years and this year I got the normal flu (very mild) and covid in 2 months, hopefully next year alot of these winter illnesses will be 'normal' again.

Sorry I meant in terms of freedom of movement and travel, no quarantine etc. I agree, they love masks and even sun shades too
